you just add the word consistently to a someone who is up to 42% at 3p shooting while being a rookie. Rookie expectations in this forum are well overblown...

Not sure what you mean, all rookies even 18 year old ones should average 21/5/6. There is no learning curve in the NBA, if Lebron can come in straight from high school and average that, why cant Windler and Okoro?

He measured 6'6-1/4" without shoes and 6'7-1/2" with at the combine. 195 pounds, 6'10" wingspan. He's plenty tall for a SF, although he could use 10 pounds of muscle/bulk, and could be a big 2-guard if he improves his ball handling. But I see him slotting in nicely as a starting 3 or, at worst, solid bench player.

10 lbs? more like 15-20, lol....but he has a pro weigh training staff. Honestly i think windler is better at guard possibly, he seems to have the quickness, but he played combo forward in college, so either wing position works for him.

I think he's always gonna be on the lean side ala Tayshaun Prince but could definitely add some strength and weight...I wouldn't want him to bulk up too much like Cedi did. He needs to have that Korver-esque motion across the floor.

I keep thinking back to the Pisstons...his "stretch ceiling" is like a blend of Rip and Tayshaun and thats awesome. The annoying defense and build of Tayshaun but the shoot-off-the-move ability like Rip (or Korver)

I just want him to keep doing what he is doing. Be aggressive and move the ball when you don't have the shot.

I am really pleased with his defensive awareness. It is much better than I expected from a scorer like him. He uses his length well, and his anticipation is very high.

it's a beautiful game when you play like that!

People are still bagging JB, but it looks like the practice actually helped. I want to see them continue it once they meet a good defensive team. I was pleased they played well against the Rockets because they are a bad team with good defense.

pretty sure Windler won't miss another 3 point shot all year.

As mentioned give him time and he has exploded the past 2 games. As long as he retains confidence and mentally like what he did at Belmont his shot will fly.

9 3s in a row without a simple miss. The last time was Kyrie to do that in cavs uniform.

Most consecutive 3pt FG made Cavaliers since 1996:
Kyrie Irving (2015) 11
Delonte West (2009) 11
Wesley Person (1999) 10
Dylan Windler (current) 9

I'm wondering if either Okoro or Windler will eventually be moved to guard, partly because it may be a better position for them and partly because of the loss of Kevin Porter Jr. It also may depend on who we get with our (hopefully) top three pick next year. If it's a small forward, or even a power forward with Nance dropping down to the 3, then one or both of them needs to move.

I agree Windler is fine at small forward, especially if he continues to rebound well, play solid defense, and hit 100% of his 3's. :chuckle: Being a legit 6'6" with a 6'10" wingspan and good mobility definitely allows him to play the 3, but I think his outside shooting and ball-handling could play at the 2 plus his lack of bulk would match up better with those athletic 2's that have been giving us so much trouble (like that guy who dropped 50 on us last week).

As a 2 I could see Windler posting up opposing guards (especially shorter ones) and scoring from the low post since he's ambidextrous. I've seen him make some nice right-handed jump hooks from five feet out when opponents were taking away his left hand.

Okoro is an inch shorter than Windler and has 35 pounds on him so I see him staying at the 4 because his strength matches up better against forwards and I don't like his ball-handling or outside shooting. He's also four years younger and if anything is just going to get stronger if that's possible.

I am starting to believe its going to be either Sexton or Garland, especially with us preaching defense. But who knows what we get in return.

Also Nance is more likely to play backup center at this point than SF because we will only have one center on the team next year unless we sign a free agent or draft one.

I am not ready to call Sexland a failure, both are still developing, but it is a challange and i think we can better construct our roster with a trade when the time is right.

Lol you see Okoro as a 4? Do you even watch basketball?

Matchups, matchups, matchups.

I have watched a little over half the Cavs games this season. Okoro struggles against taller small forwards who can shoot. He just doesn't have the reach to disrupt their rhythm. Windler, on the other hand, can play more minutes against those types of players and switch Okoro to the best offensive guard defensively.

Sexland has absolutely been exposed both on offense and on defense against the elite teams of the West coast. The lack of defensive-minded power forward turned their defense into tissue paper, and even worse Sexton fell into some bad habits with tunnel vision again.

I've shifted back to believing Sexton isn't likely to survive this trade deadline. For the Cavaliers to get anything of value out of the deadline, they have to give up something to get something. The West coast trip showed me Sexton can't be "the man" for a franchise. His calling is still elite 6th man for an elite team.

One bad road trip and you’re singing “Hit the Road, Jack.”

Who is going to pick up the scoring loss? Dean Wade? Collin didn’t have a great road trip but he did score at least 22 in every game except the Nuggets debacle.

Oh I forgot - we can get rid of Sexton and acquire Wiggins, who can score 20 ppg at horrible efficiency. That’ll do it.

Frankly selling Sexton just to get “anything of value” out of this trade deadline makes no sense to me. Why is this trade deadline so important to our team? Is there some big asset available?
