This is the same though almost across the board in every city. What access? All major stories are broken by national guys. It seems what our scribes have is the ability to transcribe the softball questions asked of our heroes when the PR staff decides to make them available for interviews. Has any writer asked any of the players to their face since camp began whether they are vaccinated? Don't think so. I think that would be a pretty relevant question given the issues with Kyrie Wiggins etc. Puff followed by a 25 win season does no one any good. I hope also they have retired the awful phrase "our culture."
Teams are tightlipped about actual trades and free agents they are currently working on. Other teams may leak stories for leverage or in hopes of blowing up a deal that two other teas are working on.
But its the agents who break the real big stories to the media. And they want the biggest outlet possible, so they go to Woj, Shams, or occasionally Haynes, Spears, Aldridge 99 out of 100 times.
I am not saying that our local Cavs beat is good, but judging them on not breaking big trades and signings is silly because local beat writers across the league almost never break those types of stories.
