I just think his game fits the current NBA so well, as long as he stays healthy and doesn't lose that jumper, he's going to be a good player.

I’ve been impressed with how he’s competed defensively. His work on the glass, as well.

He may never be a positive defender, but he’s definitely not some hole either.

Beyond the shooting, his ability to just naturally use the floor without the ball with his exceptional understanding and feel for the game. That’s a gift.

That’s the type of thing that makes me very confident that he becomes a solid NBA player.

I love wings that rebound like he does. Just think it's such an advantage. Helps you play smaller line-ups without getting killed on the glass as much. Felt like that's why RJ was so good for us in 2016--his rebounding from the wing. Windler's not the athlete/defender RJ is, but he's a much better shooter. Not trying to compare them as players, just pointing out how rebounding from the wing is valuable.

This^, especially considering our ideal would be playing heavy minutes with both Sexton and Garland. If you have little rebounding from the guard spot, then the team needs to make up for it with wings and bigs. Windler will be a good fit.

THATS THE WAY TO DO IT.

Finally a comp to a black guy, even if it was made begrudgingly.

I actually see Windler as a slightly poor man's Reggie Miller.

Long, Lanky, great shooter, high B-ball IQ, sneaky athletic.

That's the exact comp I was thinking. I wonder if he has a sister named Cheryl.

Yeah one thing Miller had was a high release that was really hard to defend and alter. He also was one of the best players I have ever seen moving off the ball. That is the kind of tape Windler needs to study. I was listening to a podcast where they talked about how getting open and staying open is a critical skill in the nba. Just from my own modest experience coaching middle school I can tell you this is a very under rated skill. It sounds easy, but knowing where to go and when to move to get yourself open is something that a lot of players at all levels do not know how to do. It requires intelligence, a high motor, stamina and skill to do it for an entire game consistently.

It was kind of a joke, kind of serious. Reggie is a HOFer, but they do have similar games. I hope Windler learns to defend better, and I would be shocked if his rebounding doesn't transfer from college to 3 Rebs a game that Reggie averaged.

That said, Reggie is one of the greatest coming off screen 3-point shooters ever. I would be thrilled if Windler was 75% the player Reggie was.

Yeah no one expects him to be any where near as good as Reggie but he can model his game after him. Windler is never going to be a great defender but as long as he knows where to go and gives effort and gets stronger I don’t think he will be a major liability on that end . One thing he will do is keep the defense honest. You need role players like him on your roster in the modern nba!

The time traveler said he'll be a 6 time all star... I'm really starting to get convinced the guy wasn't just some random drunk guy.

I am not sure he has that upside with his lack of quickness and explosion with the ball, but then again no one thought Klay Thompson would become one of the best two players in the game. Honestly as long as he is in the 8 man rotation on future Cavs playoff teams helping us win meaningful games I will be more then happy. In all honesty we do need to remember that summer league is several levels below real nba action. So it will interesting to see how he does early since he is not a 19 year old who barley played in college.
