2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
How many actual years do we control KPJ for? Because, for some reason I have a gut feeling about him, that he will leave Cleveland at the earliest opportunity for anywhere else that will have him. This is based on nothing concrete, just a feeling from watching him play and talk in interviews.

your suspicions are within reason.

my son and I had breakfast with kpj a few weeks ago when we were out in seattle at a business conference and kevin was visiting his mom and some friends out near his high school. We went to a Vegan spot called Cafe Flora in Madison Valley because he’s experimenting with that diet a little bit. Great stuff.

We actually didn’t talk that much about basketball because friends of his kept popping in and out to say hi and we mostly focused on music (big meek mill guy) and he talked to my son a lot.

One thing he did say is that he’d really like to end up on either the west coast or if he can’t do that then Dallas.

Midway through the meal he took a huge dump in the bathroom and texted me a picture of it with his signature on it.

This story sounds like it’s full of shit... :chuckle:

He's a sort of lone bright spot right now. Not great, but growing before our eyes. I want to see him continue to make plays around the basket. He has enough momentum to really get guys open.

He displays all the tools or the potential to be good at almost everything,,,he can pass pretty well and get guys open, he's aggressive and the size to potentially be a good defender,,needs to work on his shot but he has a chance to be a complete player if his potential is realized...can't say the same for Garland and Sexton.

Kemba showed them some of the stuff they need to do to be successful at their size. Overcoming that size disadvantage is hard. Porter is playing a up a position too really. He doesn't look as overmatched since he is so strong. Nice to start out as an elite athlete

so he is going to leave a team that didn't sleep on him when everyone else did? I guess if the Cavs are still stuck in hell in 2023 he will leave after the 22-23 season but its team options yr 3 and 4 anyway.
I said it from the jump he was the best player they drafted, how they managed to fuck up the lottery game and get this right is beyond comprehension . Windler at least has the sniper shooting we are lacking as well.

Good shootaround interview today. I really like Kevin. Seems like a good kid. It's his fire that gets him in trouble. I like that. He said he was serious nad dedicated to defense which is great to hear. Washes with what we are seeing on the court. Loved that block on Tatum last game. No one has been able to do stuff like that besides Lebron since maybe Delonte.

I have seen enough of Kevin to think he will be a higher than average player in the pick range we got him at..
