2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So can we get back to discussing if/when KPJ returns and stop the discussion of what mental health issues really are?

I hope KPJ will be fine. I was ecstatic at USC and his game last season improved as the season went on. I still remember the game against Houston when he made 6 3s and the Miami game where he exploded too for 30 points. It showed how he can be the man and have the potential to be a star. Love his step back jumper. Love his ability to go to the hoop, cut to the basket, and create his shot.

He spent so much time with Lindsey too. I hope he can start playing again as I am really excited of his talent.

Do we know for sure that him being away from the team is because of mental health issues? I just assumed it was mostly because of the 2 off court issues he had before the season. Rolled his car, had a loaded gun and possible weed. He was also in an incident that involved his sister, another woman and possible punches being thrown.

Someone posted this highlight video the other day and it struck me that all of this happened over the course of just 50 games, as a rookie. He is really an unbelievable talent and I hope - for the Cavs sake and KPJ's sake - that this doesn't become a "what-if" scenario looking back.

No point discussing when he returns, he is working on getting his life together. Good sign he is practicing with the team that he is moving forward instead backwards like he was, but doesn't mean he is returning anytime soon and the Cavs are being very tight lipped and they should be.

Great news he is practicing. Structure helps a ton. Off season. Scary

Has anyone seen a photo of him at practice recently?

Just thinking about the added bonus of Okoro guarding him in practice and KPj trying to score on Okoro... seems like a huge positive. Hope he's getting things together.

I'm glad you guys are keeping hope alive.

This dude is out of the NBA in 2 more years.

While I think he’ll more than likely suit up for the Cavs again. I also wouldn’t be totally surprised if he never played another minute for us.
Said this the day after Christmas. At the time, I was about 95% sure he'd suit up for the Cavs again.

I've dipped below 90% now.

That is worrisome, even if it's 10% so.

Porter is such a talent, and has an extremely likable presence on the floor to him. Really want this kid to come out of this intact and motivated.

Well, he can't really get much less mature, so I'm guessing that things will trend positively for him going forward. At least for the short term. Kinda seems like the organization is preparing for life without him, though. When the dust settles after the trade deadline, I think his place on the team will be clear, one way or another. But I get the feeling we won't see himnon yhe floor much before that.

I think the fact that he's now with the team he's trending in the right direction. I think the team internally decided to keep him away because of the incidents.

Fedor said he is not available in trades still.
