2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here are the pertinent details from the article.

CLEVELAND — Cavaliers guard Kevin Porter Jr. is expected to be traded or released following an outburst Friday in the Cavs locker room, The Athletic has learned from several sources with direct knowledge of the events.

Porter, 20, who has not played this season due to personal issues, grew angry when he entered the locker room and realized the team gave his old locker to Taurean Prince, who was acquired in a blockbuster trade Wednesday.

Sources said Porter, whose locker was moved to the wall where the younger, end-of-bench players reside, began yelling and at one point threw food.

Sources said general manager Koby Altman came into the locker room and confronted Porter, and the player remained combative with his boss. The Cavs spent the weekend trying to trade him.

Coach J.B. Bickerstaff heard the commotion in the locker room from his office and came in, shocked and disgusted by what he heard.

What a bummer super talented guy just couldn't keep his head straight. Thought things were on the up since he was on the bench happy and stuff guess not.

I just hate losing talent like this during a full rebuild. He's definitely top 3 on the roster in terms of young talented prospect, but he keeps making major off-court mistakes.

We won't get any sort of value in return in a trade or by cutting him.

Sure he;s upset about the locker change..best thing to talk to the coach..
Not have a temper tantrum.
JR must be floating somewhere invisible...

The value is not poisoning your positive culture. Porter has no value around the league and few teams want to touch him given his off-court antics and behavior. He's on a one way track to being out of the league and honestly could end up prison if he doesn't grow up real fast.

The best thing the Cavs can do is move on from him as fast as humanly possible to end the saga. They'll try to get a pick if at all possible but some teams have tried to ask the Cavs for a pick to take him.

The Athletic's version of what happened is watered down. REALLY watered down. Once again, not my story to tell but there were more things said and done than just food throwing.
