2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
His body looks really good. He has that frame that you want in a wing and that little burst is surprising.

His shot release it a little low, but having that 3 point shot off the dribble and that first step. I really liked him ever since I saw his highlights. He just has some serious tools. He can be a real triple threat. I can't wait to see what he can do. I am still a little shocked he fell to 30.

The low release point really makes me worried he's going to get blocked a ton until he adjusts. That shot is definitely going to be a project.
It is the biggest question mark in his entire game. KPJ will be a solid player if he can develop his shot to the point where he loses the hitch and has a high release point.

The problem is, without that fix, he is limited offensively and has attitude problems to boot.

His step back is crazy. It might give him enough separation, but I agree his release point is troubling. He gets it off fast tho.

Back when I was a kid getting better at my craft, I was easily able to adjust where I shot the ball from without much issue with accuracy. (we will say age 15) It just took a summer of adjusting it and working with it. I think KPJ will have zero issues with it. We aren't taking a Kidd-Gilcrest sort of hitch either. He shoots pretty well with a consistent motion.

I also agree Cavatt, his step-back is already at a very high level. Love seeing that out of the kid. Crossing my fingers his talent ends up equaling out to what I think it can be. Kid has a lot of tools ripe for use at the NBA level.

Well Sexton had a awkward release alsobut he has really worked on it..Porter's looks like it's waiting to get blocked.

Watching him jack stepbacks while Garland and/or Sexton watch will definitely be very fun and not annoying at all.

How did Dirk feel about Doncic doing that last year?
