2019 Draft, Pick #30 - Kevin Porter Jr., USC

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
KPJ running point, Sexton essentially playing SG...a lot to like there. KPJ can pick up the SGs on defense. Theres a solution to our problem.

Garland can run the second unit. He doesn’t factor into my long term plans until he starts to actually perform. If we’re in that position come trade deadline next season, we can make the hard choices then. Garland will either be looking like a bustola or force the issue. Either way we’ll know where we stand.

Garland has had too good of a rookie year to be a bust, the issue is Sexton is scoring way too eficiently at a way to young age to keep ignoring and KPJ is looking like the 3rd or 4th best player from the draft.

garland still looks top 10 from draft, and has allot of room to grow, its just Sexton and KPJ really looking like they could both be borderline all star. Remember, 5th overall pick is not by any means a guarantee all star, really not too many all stars outside of Wade and Love and Cousins, but plenty of contributors, right now I have to guess, Garland ends up a solid rotational player, and that is ok.

Has he? What makes Garland rookie season good?
As a Garland fan, I disagree. He should score on a much higher rate. Heck, every god damn scrub nowadays can put 20+...especially on tanking teams.
Garland's premise was his shooting. I expected him to have a poor man's Curry gravity to open up the game for himself and everyone else -- that hasn't happened, and that's a shame. I really hope he will able to show that next year..cause if he can't then his whole profile and premise go down the drain.

Steph played 4 years of college ball, not half a year so not a fair comparison.

Garland is scoring 12.5 on 36% shooting from 3, his overall shooting is poor because he needs to put on weight. He is virtually tied for 9th in scoring and 2nd in assists. Obviously there a 2 stud rookies, but they went 1 and 2, and Nun looks good too, but then he is in a bunch with Barrett, Hero, White, who all look pretty decent for the future, he isn't blowing me away, but he will be a rotational player in the nba, I didn't say he is our future answer at PG, but should provide a spark off the bench some day as his floor. Ceiling seems to be starting PG, don't see all star potential at this point, but who knows with work.

I just don't see bust is what I am saying. I don't consider any player in the rotation outside of 1st overall a bust.

So KPJ was benched because he forgot his jersey.

Is that normal that players bring their jersey, not some equipment guy?

Was he benched because of punishment or because he didn't have a jersey yet?

Porter was never benched,he had a concussion during the game and never came back.

Delly started over him, thus benched, I didn't say he didn't play, but he came off bench.

I don't think he was benched, he couldn't go on the floor until he had his jersey. He went in after like a minute.

Porter realized when he was about to go to center court in starting the game that he forgot to wear his jeresy. Delly then had to start and once Porter got his jeresy he came into the game 1-2 minutes in. Unfortunately he had a head problem so he had to leave the game.

Thanks, I didn't watch the game, that story makes more sense, it seems ridiculous to bench a kid for forgetting his jersey, honest mistake, probably nervouse, 2nd NBA start ever, but yeah if he didn't have one at tip off, that is another story, lol.

If you watch the video, he is standing there with his black undershirt telling the coach. Then Bickerstaff tells Delly to go in and Delly starts laughing. It was funny and reminded me of the time Donyell Marshall forgot his Jersey.

KPJ was pissed that the media hyped it up and didn't mention he got a concussion. He's fiery

It was too bad I thought he did a good job on Tatum early, and he had some nice passes to start the game. He's strong and Tatum couldn't move him in the post.

Thanks, I watched zero of the game, I really like KPJ, if he can keep the work ethic up and the attitude in check, he has soooo much potential. More than Sexton, and I am really liking Sexton recently. I do think Sexton is more likely to reach his full potential, but there is just so much to like about Porter Jr....size, athletic ability, vision, strength, shooting form, finishing ability, etc...He is an elite prospect that had no business falling out of the lottery.
