A PG who has elite handle and can get to his spots need only to make his shots once he’s there. I saw this last year with Garland but everyone wanted to label him a bust. No a bust was Anthony Bennett a guy who couldn’t even get into positions to score.
Garland was effortlessly getting into NBA scoring positions, he was just missing the shots. He’s learning when to pass and when to shoot now and he’s shining
This kid is sooo young. He will continue to mature both physically and mentally. Koby is nailing it with kids who are showing a higher maturity level, want to get better, want to be pros, want to play the game and are willing to do it. I believe he hired a cook and overhauled his diet at 19-20 years old. That’s next level maturity.
He’s going to have some struggles, but the payoff appears to be trending ina very positive direction.

Ended up with a torrent with Pistons broadcast - they were raving about SexLand the whole game. "Dangerous" "could be one of the best backcourts in the league" etc.

Fwiw the color commentator seemed really on point about everything, so hearing such high praise from him was very encouraging.

Saw more than flashes of this last year. Kid has really excellent vision. He just needed to put on some weight so he couldn't be muscled off his spot so easily and that little boost of confidence that comes from feeding off of teammates when you set them up and things are flowing. I guess you don't know it is in there for sure until you see it consistently but Garland has been a real point guard this year. As in, the rare 'traditional' point guard that hardly exists in today's NBA.

If these guys can continue to work on their defense there is no reason a Sexland backcourt can't work. Their offensive skillsets actually meld pretty seamlessly. Then again, a guy like Garland who can pass or shoot will fit in virtually any lineup.

He seems extremely legit at the moment.

We need a nickname for that hesi asap. So filthy

Garlands shooting was off today, but still positively affected the game with his defense, ball handling and his passing.

Like what i am seeing.

What’s nice is that the off shooting night was still 46.6% (7/15) from the field which is pretty decent for a guard.

0-3 from three point though. Its ok, he did shoot well from 2.

Slightly off topic but I don’t mind division rivals commentary. They’ve usually seen our guys a few times and it’s nice to hear them notice development.

I’ve liked what Garland is doing off the glass.
Some of his floaters missed today but I’m already thinking they’re going in rather than waiting for a big to grab the O board.

3 of his misses in the lane today lead to easy put backs because he got the D out of position, would still be nicer if he made the shots tho

About a year ago I posted - don't give up on Garland as it can take time for young players to develop. Glad the cavs didn't make the same mistake they have in the past by giving up too early on a young player.

First fans were down on Sexton. Then it was Garland and I expect fans to do the same with Okoro before the season ends. Hope the fans remember it can take some time for a young player to develop.

One thing with Garland that he’ll have to get better at is getting to the line. It will be hard for him to score efficiently without doing it, and while all those floaters are pretty, it keeps him from taking any contact.

That is probably his biggest weakness. You are right.
