We need him to turn into that or Okoro to be an absolute stud. Margin for error got slimmed down.
A little, not much. Garland is already on his way there. Okoro contributes so much in other ways that he has time to work on his offense. Not to mention Jarrett Allen who is 22 years old and already averages a double double. He doesn't look too bad around the basket, he just needs to keep working. It takes a while for young bigs to develop offensively. He could end up being an 18 and 12 guy in a couple years. Losing Porter isn't the end of the world.

He just can't stay healthy.
I look at it this way.
Garland was injured when he was drafted so missed out on summer league, offseason conditioning, etc.
This year due to covid again he missed out on another summer of NBA conditioning. Obviously Okoro missed out this summer too.

Bottomline I expect huge progress next season for Garland and Okoro (and Windler too) after spending their first summer in a NBA offseason conditioning and training program. Garland and Windler need to work on their body and Okoro is physically ahead of them but needs more refinement of his skills as he's more raw in that area..this type of improvement generally happens in the offseason.

I see Darius as a 18/7 guy but an efficient shooter.

are both Darius and Windler playing tonight? Will they be playing in some sort of protective bubble wrap? Koby should have never taken these guys out of their box, you can't get a good number on ebay if the box is open and a leg is missing.

Apparently this board wasn't sold on Garland through those first 6 games where the team was so much better with Garland + Sexton or even just Garland (Sexton on the bench) compared to Sexton without Garland.

I thought he had solidified his place with you guys but it seems like there are still a lot of doubters.

Yall gonna learn tonight...

He's done a great job so far this season. I was hesitant at first but I'm sold on him....

I think Sexton and Garland will be a duo for a long time for this team...

I didn't really realize he missed so many shots. I thought he was dynamic on offense and it led to a lot of good movement. That 2nd unit with him is pretty cool.

We saw earlier Sexton coming out early and leading the bench. Maybe it makes more sense with Garland doing that. Those guys need more playmaking.

Loved his no look passed and even Allen was surprised he got the ball. Amazed in his dribble penetration to the basket. A bit rusty today but there is a lot to like from Garland in near future.

Allen isn't used to getting the ball on anything but a rebound. Just watching his body language when his teammates gave him the ball to *score* (post moves, open dunks, jumpshots, etc) you could see how respected he felt.

Needs to improve his ability to finish among the trees obviously. And I also would have liked him to fucking pull the trigger on some of the 3's he refuses to take off the dribble. He was given a ton of space to shoot them because he lulls players to sleep with his dribbling package. He needs to just let it go. His value will come from that, not by forcing it hard to the rim...not yet anyways.

I liked his passing and connection with Allen, and I thought his defense was pretty good.

I also think that this is his first real season insofar of his body being in NBA shape. My guess is that he will continue to improve his mentals this year and, hopefully, breakout as a scorer towards the end of this season like Sexton did last year.

I don’t know if anybody here watches soccer, but he reminds me of Bruno Fernandes at Man United. He is super aggressive and somewhat risky, but is also a pure shot creator and, when he’s on, almost impossible to deal with.

Garland and Sexton, offensively, affect on-court gravity in different ways. Sexton’s directness completely tightens the defense. On the other hand, Garland is especially great with altering gravity off his movement and in the pick-and-roll. I actually think they’re going to be a great pair, and I cannot believe that I feel that way after last year.

Yeah this is what I see going forward too. They can start together but if we stagger them with our basically 2 starting units at this point, we can be on the gas pedal the whole 48.

Offensively we definitely looked our best when they played together at the end of the game though. Their speedy drives are something not many team can handle imo. Not everyone has an Okoro. Probably ends up the closing lineup as long as we are fine defensively.

I looked at his stats, he's shooting 43.6 % overall and 44.4% from 3, that's not that bad?
