Garland will get it eventually. The quick burst he had where he knocked down 3's in succession could be a turning point. Don't care about his overall FG% that game. It should be all about volume for now. He will never realize his potential until he starts to hoist it and as a result increase his gravity and the overall team's gravity on the floor.

Yep his game will open up by guys flying at him when he is on the 3pt line

I'm not gonna crap on Garland as I thought he was trying to play the way he needs to last night.

BUt people saying "he's improved so much from last season thus X,Y,Z" need to put the caveat in there that he was absolutely awful, awful, awful last season. For much of the year he was the worst player in the league by RPM. Out of all 400+ players.
I'm not the biggest believer in Garland. But going from "guy who looks like he could be out of the league after his rookie deal" to "at minimum a good rotation player" is pretty significant.

He (and the team) needs to play much faster, and he needs to be more aggressive and not get so down on himself when he misses shots. But it's important to keep in mind that he's only played 82 career games and has plenty of upside to get better.

That little burst when he went "shorter" Steph stroking 3 straight 3's is what people have been waiting for. The raw stroke is there. He just doesn't believe in himself and loses confidence easily which is the big worry. Will his balls drop???

I can't believe Bickerstaff let him drive 4 straight times with Embiid staring down, just awful shot selection. When I meant balls dropping, I didn't mean stupid. How the he'll the Cavs win with such poor play amazed me.

I thought that was the first game that Garland looked like her wanted to lead the team. A ton of mistakes and missed shots but more aggression than normal

What I really like is he seems to really attempt to make the right pass a lot of the time, his court vision is definitely there, especially compared to Sexton. He just needs to be a bit more disciplined in his approach to the game, especially his passes. I feel he tries to be a unnecessarily flashy at times, and his passing can be a bit soft. He also seems to struggle against teams with solid defensive bigs.

Last night he was great in the 4th though, his turnovers were bad, but he was key in our big run in the 4th. Hope he keeps that trend :)

Do you guys know Darius Garland has played 85 professional games in his NBA career? And only 3 games in college? He's gonna have lots of ups and downs, but has a ton of good things to work with. IF Sexland needs to be broken up, the Sex should be the one to go (sorry).

Until the land is better than the sex on each and every night, then the sex can be traded for a position of need. Sexton stemmed the downward spiral caused by garland and is also instrumental in the 4th and OT with his 3 pt shooting and taking advantage of the penalty situation.

pg. Garland/ I don't believe Sexton has the ego to go 6th man here at this stage.. gotta move him and let okoro do it!

The problem with Garland for me is that in the spells when he turns cold, he doesnt even try to involve his teammates, but just keeps chucking bricks. That thirds quarter performance was one of the ugliest that I saw in a long time. Same situation, to a lesser extent, already happened several times this season. A true point guard will find other ways how to positively impact the game and will involve his teammates more.

Like the 9 assist and a clutch steal? Then 10 straight baskets to seal the game?

He missed 10 straight shots and the Cavs were in a close game with a chance for a huge win on the road against the Conference leader that was 14-2 at home. Some guys would have given up and stopped taking shots, thinking they just didn't have it that night. But Garland's confidence was unbroken and he kept shooting when the shot was there, not forcing anything. The shots started falling and he scored 11 of the Cavs' 20 points in OT on 3-for-4 from the field and 5-for-6 from the line. He also dished out nine assists over the course of the game.

Did his balls drop? Yeah. Did he "lose confidence easily"? No. He didn't lose a drop of confidence despite the cold spell and he came up huge when the game was being decided late in the 4th and in OT.
