Just keep reiterating he has to phase out the floaters.

Personally I want to see him w/o the ball more than w/ it. I want to see him learn to run around off of screens for extended periods and be forced into catch and shoots. I think he can excel there.

It seem to me that the coaching staff worked on the floater for Garland and Sexton as a stepping stone to open up their game. It feels like after JBB became head coach that they stopped implementing whatever plan they had to build out both Sexton and Garland games. I have to think whoever worked out the plan to build out their offense never intended the floater become such a big part of both their games.

I always thought the floater was implemented so they could throw up lobs to the bigs. It was a substitute for attacking the rim but a complimentary piece for their games.

Garland has definitely shown very good improvement from year 1 to year 2. Seems more confident on the floor and is understanding that he can be an effective scorer in this league.

I do agree with the above posts, I'd love more catch and shoot opportunities. He has all the ability to be a deadly shooter in this league for many years to come.

The Hartenstein 7 assists was an indicator. Why couldn't Darius or Collin get that many? They can't pass to themselves. They can pass to each other though and should look to each other behind the line more.

I would love if they developed a better connection on the court. They're out there together a lot but they haven't figured out yet how to play off one another. It feels like a lot of your turn / my turn.

The games they have like the Philly game with Embiid, they killed it

Hartenstein said he's been watching Jokic in Denver, who is averaging 8.5 assists per game this year. Hartenstein spent two years getting a ringside tutorial on big man passing. Looks like some of it rubbed off.

Notice how Hartenstein kept looking and nodding his head wanting people to cut? I wonder if JB told him after the game that that’s not part of our offense. We want those guys to stand on the wing and in the corner and watch and see what you can do one on one!

That was a cool. Seems like he sees the game pretty well.

He made that bounce pass on the cut multiple times last night. Pretty much on target each time. We definitely need his size. If he can learn some footwork from Allen...

If he’s always going to play that aggressive and with that tempo he can be a star. I’m still iffy if he will keep it up but it’s a start. I think a good modern day coach would do wonders for him and a clear pecking order on the team

So Darius drops 37 (and a handful of assists) (and even a blocked shot on a seven-footer) and .... damn near crickets in this thread.

It’s as though the Haterade Chuggers are stunned into a disappointed silence when Darius has a good game. C’mon, guys, at least complain about how the Cavs will now have fewer ping-pong balls in the hopper.

Plenty talk in the game thread and frankly, don’t think a lot of people were watching the game for some reason(late season burnout in the midst of a 5 game losing streak?)

Its always good to remind that the 5 game college career was a real and legit slow down on developmental path and that this season in some ways should almost be looked at as the second half of his rookie year.

But thre the season goes on, you just see a lot of stuff to like about Garlands playmaking, shot, penetrating, dribbling, and ability to use all sorts of angles of the backboard on layups.

Unless presented with a great deal, there is just no need and no rush to “choose” between Garland and Sexton so early in both of their careers. No need at all.
