I have my expectations for Garland... just not sure how it plays out.

He looks like a decent shooter, dribbler, and play-maker. Similar to Curry and somewhat similar to Irving. But it's not a promise that he'll become that good.

And a reason why I'm optimistic in particular (to go with that potential) is because of his size. People weren't sure early last year if someone like Trae Young would reach the level he got to at the end of the season. But he kept improving and it was clear that it was possible. It's like Trae is proof that the talent can transfer to the highest level. And I feel the shorter players are able to evolve faster to reach that point (I consider Billups to be an exception rather the rule).

Now where I have some concern... injuries. They always creep up on you and you pray they don't become severe. He probably is fine from last year's injury but I always get nervous. Irving (who missed most of his year at Duke) managed to turn into a star who gave us some good seasons, but I guess it's also a crapshoot.

Hope it works out. I'm really looking forward to Garland's year as a Cav. Let's GO!

I wish he could find some 6'6 guy to play against to work on getting his jumper off against taller defenders. That guy was no competition.

Oh and his jumper is just so wet.

Its just the way he move/glide and shoot so smooth, plus the range he has kinda remind me of Lou... Lou is a very good offensive player... I hope Garland's playmaking and defense becomes much better than sweet lou though. If his body helds up and can handle the nba rigorous season I think his floor atleast would be near Lou Williams level...

That's what I saw with a low release point. If you are 6'1 it might be good to release more over your head than in front of your face.

Steph doesnt have a low release point too? Trae Young? Fox?

At the end of the day it doesn't matter for a pg. Its plenty quick and it is not like he will be posting up guys. He will create plenty separation with his bh, quickness and the use of screens. I would not get near his form.

yeah definitely a bad idea to mess with shooters form.

His shot goes up quick. Seems to be more important than release point. Still, it will be interesting to see how it translates to he NBA and if it is instantaneous.

I think Porter Jr is the one who might have issues with the release point and slight mechanical adjustments. We have good shooting coaches and Beilien is known for shooting development as well. I am optimistic.
