I'm impressed with what he's accomplished so far this season. I've always found 15 and 5 to be decent numbers for an upcoming talent, 17 and 7 (my preference) for an all-star level point guard, and 20 and 10 to be superstar level. 19 and 8 is pretty decent as a point guard. The fact that he looks like one is a good sign. The ability to shoot also doesn't hurt. If he got to Mark Price-level (1989-1993), I'd be more than satisfied (just need him to stay healthy, *knock on wood*).

The problem will be sharing the lineup with another short guard. As mentioned in the Sexton thread, we've had two short, but high potential guards on the team coming into their own at the same time: Price/KJ in 1987, Brandon/Price in 1993, and Andre Miller/Brevin Knight in 2000. Same issue each time: Pick 1 guy to build with, trade the other. Now don't get my wrong, sometimes it changes the fortune of a team to get over the bump (like getting the original Larry Nance)... but it doesn't always go smoothly. Can they co-exist past this building year and become more? Need a bigger sample size. Maybe we'll know closer to February. But I love having these types of problems (rather than having no talent at all).

I mean... Mark Price was an all-NBA guard, a generational shooter, a clear franchise player type. We all hope he gets there, but that’s a ridiculously high bar to set for Garland.

As for picking between the two... those were all different situations on their own, but that was a very different league at the time. Guard play has become so dominant that not only can multiple high level guards coexist, it’s actually a necessity in this day and age.

Damn, I missed this in game. Snatched them ankles.

He had 6 assists on a night that he should have had more than 10. in possibly the worst the team has played thus far. And he still takes his shots when they're there.

This guy is good. I've wanted someone like this on the Cavs for a LONG time.

I thought he hesitated more tonight. Probably the presence of so much length. Thought he should have kept launching. Thought he could have attacked the rim a couple of times and he hesitated.

Still thought he played pretty well. Definitely played good defense on Barrett at times. Cut off his drive, and that charge that was called a block on Randall showed some great anticipation. Potential assists were probably pretty high. I thought for Collin too, some good passing.

Yeah, we need him to nail wide open shots. He has to be able to do that.

Loving his game atm, would like to see him put up a few more threes but that is 4 decent games in a row. He does avoid contact but he still gets no love when he does get clobbered.

Garland doesn’t look like the same guy from last season. There’s still a lot to do (finishing around rim, turnovers) but man, I’d be lying if I said he didn’t look like the team’s most promising player. He’s already demonstrated a skillset that shows he’s not going to bust. The shooting is too good, the court vision is too good.

I was wrong.

I really hope he can come back and pick up where he left off. He was looking like the type of PG I've wanted here in Cleveland for a long time.

If it turns out he's not, our outlook takes a big-time hit.
