2019 FA and Offseason Mega Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Garland alone adds 10 wins

I'm as high on Garland as anyone but if he alone adds 10 wins to this team as a rookie then he will be the runaway ROY and Koby Altman should get a parade for the pick because it means he's literally going to be a future MVP candidate.

(Cavs may win 10+ more games but obviously it will have to be because of their collective improvement)

I think it's kind of a tough season to project. Normally, you look at the changes to the roster, including young players having gained experience, and try to figure out how many games that is worth. But this year, we're going from (apparently) no offensive system at all, to a system run by a guy who is supposed to be one of the more innovative minds in college b-ball. I'm not sure how to account for that because I have no idea what this team would have looked like last year had Beilein been coaching us then.

Yeah--I think obviously we will be very cautious and reserved with playing certain veterans a lot to win every night. The roster will also likely end up with multiple changes throughout the season.

I think the Cavs end up winning around 26-28 games. Which would be a solid improvement from last year but should still be solidly in the bottom 10 to keep our pick, and then next summer I think a lot will unfold in terms of the long-term composition of our team.

Ofcouse not, I was just joking.

10 wins is high quality all-star material.

In the end, we control out own fate in terms of draft position. If we wanted we wouldn't even win 20.

I disagree I think it’s pretty clear we will be a 20-25 win team, 2 young undersized guards starting together, a coach new to the NBA, 3 new rookies all tipped to see a fair bit of action.. a bunch of overpaid players waiting to be traded = 20-25 wins

You have to also account for injuries plus any trades made during the season.
I know I'm not expecting much..20-28 wins might be stretching it.

The roster is younger & more talented than a year ago. Additionally, the team was ravaged by injuries last year and the Cavs didn’t exactly rush these vets back from their injuries. Beilein is also a better coach than anyone we’ve had in recent memory. I can definitely see us with 10 more wins and possibly pushing into the low 30’s.

Ehh, maybe. I still don't see it. I just ran through the entire league and I don't see more than 5 teams that I am confident we could win more games than. And that's very generous. I think it's very likely we're a bottom 5 team. And that puts us at like 26-27 wins max.

If we were in the West, I’d agree with you. However, the East is much weaker and that should inflate our record a bit.

Out west, even teams like the Suns & Pelicans look significantly improved. The Grizz look poised to contend for the #1 pick and the Thunder will take a big step back, but everyone else is pretty well stacked. Heck, the Spurs may not make the playoffs this year, with how stacked the west is.

Still don't think we win more games than any other teams in the East besides Charlotte and maybe the Knicks. Our current over/under is 23.5. I *MIGHT* take a slight over at the moment but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

I can confidently say that New York, Charlotte, & Washington are worse than the Cavs. We should be competing with Chicago & Atlanta. I can see Detroit possibly imploding as well.

Out west only the Grizz & possibly the Thunder look worse than the Cavs.
