2019 FA and Offseason Mega Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
KCP has a 15% trade kicker and 15% in incentive which I have to assume Rich Paul would design to get him if he was traded.

My guess is CP3 will be begging LeBron to try to make it happen. Maybe you are right that LeBron knows CP3 is over the hill but maybe CP3 can convince him to push the Lakers to do it. I can't think that CP3 is happy to be going to OKC right now.

LBJ runs the show though. If LBJ let his friends run the show the Cavaliers would have traded for Melo. LBJ wants to win at the end of the day. Trading his whole team minus Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kuzma for CP3 is not a winning trade. They need Danny Green to cover the other teams top wing, they need Bradley to guard the other teams PG, they need the pieces they signed more then they need CP3. If CP3 gets traded the only team desperate enough to take him is going to be Miami. Miami needs a 2nd star with Butler to keep him happy. CP3 is old as dirt but Riley is senile at this point. I don't think any other team is dumb enough to take CP3 at 40 M per not even his buddy.

This seems like the perfect opportunity to sneak in and facilitate a CP3 to Miami trade by snagging one of OKCs picks in exchange for Miami’s contracts

Thunder already got under the tax. No incentive for them to dump a contract now. They sitting pretty rebuild wise. Got all the picks, SGA, and still have Adams + Gallo to trade.

I believe they’re still about $2-3 million into the tax currently.

Also the Heat are hard capped and only have ~2 million before hitting the apron. I don't think OKC takes back more salary for a larger luxury tax bill to get rid of CP3. Miami has alot of bad and not so great contracts. Maybe OKC takes back two of them with Justice Winslow then tries to dump James Johnson to us using a pick. I think Miami tries to keep their two expirings in Dragic and Meyer Leonard to make addition moves or to have some flexibility next summer.

Assuming OKC wants Winslow. I think they'd wait for Herro to be eligible for trade, but Miami doesn't really want to trade him. So JR Smith won't help there if both parties are willing to wait it out - but I doubt OKC wants to stay in the tax if they trade Paul - and Miami can't really help them directly due to their cap situation.

I can see OKC wanting to clear up the remaining $4M or so they need to to get out of the tax, but they have some time.

I don't think Miami wants to give up Herro. I think Winslow has shown some promise as a point forward but if they have CP3 and Butler there is no reason to let Winslow run the point. He really didn't show that much before that when he was playing off the ball.

I think Winslow is the middle ground to taking a flyer on some potential instead of adding a asset for expirings or taking back all three of James Johnston, Dion Waiters, and Kelly Olynyk.

Not a fan of Winslow’s game, he’s very limited in what he can do. I also believe he’s a lot closer to 6’5 than his listed height

Except Winslow is already being paid. Taking Dragic and Leonard as a base part of the package to get the salaries closer gives OKC a lot of cap space next year. Those two plus Abedayo and Herro would work from a salary.

I also suspect that Miami wants to keep at least one of those expiring deals to try to help the cap situation next year more.

Bender is the type of player we should be pursuing. Young guy with some upside coming off his rookie deal. Hard to believe hes still only 21 years old. Could grow nicely with Sex, Garland, KPJ, Cedi, Windler and Zizic.

Another guy who i think could be TT's replacement pretty directly is Chiek Diallo.

I forgot about Bender. I swear Phoenix was the problem for him. Such great passing skills, was a good pick and pop player, has great iq, but felt they never developed him or more like gave up on him and lost his confidence. He is still only 21 - the way we run our offense and the kind of big man we need, Bender would be good to have to develop.

I thought we were really close to the tax? Can we sign this guy without going back into it? Would be a good move,,nothing to lose maybe we can develop him.
