2019 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Looking forward to hearing what you observe of Benson since this’ll be such a telling season for him.

He looked awesome in Arizona.

As I've mentioned in here before, he completely stripped down his swing mechanics in the middle of the season last year. You can tell he's worked on it a bunch this winter too.

His approach and on-base skills have always been great for his age. As long as he doesn't lose any of his power with his new simplified compact swing I think he has a real good year. Still the most gifted overall athlete in the system...by far.

Oviedo was awesome tonight. He wasn't particularly sharp with his stuff, even with his 0 BB line, which tells you how good his command is at 19. Generated a lot of weak contact. None of the 4 hits were hit all that hard. Has great stuff, throws a very heavy fastball. Had him at 92 pitch 1 and 94 his final FB before his night was over. Got some room to grow into his frame as well, why a lot of people are high on him. A lot of similarities with McKenzie as far as makeup goes.

Benson is an absolute freak. His mechanics look great, albeit his stance is now a bit awkward. Drew an 8 pitch BB his 1st AB, then missed a HR by a couple inches in his 2nd. Size/strength/speed combo is still so superior to everyone else.

Their defense is a lot of fun to watch, which never happens at A level ball, cause usually it is a whole mess of ugly. Their IF is awesome, especially Fermin and Freeman up the middle.

Quentin Holmes looked great, especially when you take into consideration that he's been hurt, and this was his 1st game above AZL rookie ball. He is so fast, and his mechanics/approach definitely have gotten better. A lot of people feel his time in the Dominican this past winter will pay off for him in a big way.

Naylor is going to be a stud. You can just tell.

And watch out for Ruben Cardenas. Organization is very high on his hit skill and he bulked up a good bit this winter. If he hits for power he is going to become a very intriguing prospect, considering his makeup as a RHH OFer.

The farm system looks stacked in the lower levels with numerous star potential players. Looks fairly promising for the future even though we likely won't resign Lindor or Jose.

Yeah it is too bad they won't re-sign Jose...

The Jose comment is ridiculously dumb since he has team options in 2022 and 2023, but it got me to thinking about how dumb the Lindor commentary is as well.

People have been bitching about re-signing him for so long, it's hard to believe we still have him locked up for 3 more seasons (including this one).

Indians should consider re-signing Carrasco

In the upcoming offseason it maybe prudent to start sniffing around for offers for him.
With two seasons of control someone maybe willing to go al in and give up the farm for him.
This is of course moot if the Tribe is really interested in ponying up the money for him.

It’s more than 2 seasons of control. It’s why this is ridiculous. And when I was debating whether to get a Lindor jersey, realized we still have him for 3 years. Just ridiculous

How is it stupid? It happens to all our star players and i wasn't talking about the next 2-3 years. I said our lower levels are stacked, meaning in about 3 years a lot of those guys will be major league ready. About that time teams will be lining up the brinks truck for our stars. How was what i said wrong?

Because Jose has already been re-signed, and we control him through 2023.

And that lines up perfectly with out stacked lower levels being ready to take over.

I mean, who knows. Cookie and Kluber could be on much lower deals or gone, Lindor could be here or gone, Kipnis would surely be gone.

It's really tough to say one way or another. I do think Jose is more likely to give the Indians a discount. Especially because of what they have done for him and his family.

Additionally, a lot of those guys could be ready before 2023.

I just think it's silly that we have people looking 4-5 years down the line complaining that we don't have these guys locked up for longer.
