2019 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Exciting times to be a fan of our farm players. Nolan promoted to AA. He could start next year with AAA and if he excels there too then we'll be pounding the table for a call up in June.

I agree with Derek, normal timeline is AA to start the season and could get promoted to AAA next season. I think his bat will also be ready before his glove, so we will have to figure that out as well. His fielding is pretty bad to be honest, which actually may put Freeman on a faster track to the pros than him.

Didn't get, and still don't get, why Yainer Diaz is repeating rookie ball.

In an organization lacking catcher prospect depth, it makes no sense.

How is his defense? I am wondering if its a lack in his catching skill?

Edit: I have been trying to find info on him, but I have not been able to find anything.

Salters voluntarily retired, Ice hasn't been able to even decently hit, and it looks like Chu, may be your best next catcher prospect wise in the organization and he hasn't been able to play above AA yet. We still may see him added to the 40 man roster next season. We lost Wolters from AA and teams aren't afraid to take a chance on catchers, since numbers wise it looks like Chu, could at least be a backup MLB catcher.

Seen Hankins pitch tonight. about 5 innings, 6k. 2 or 3 walks. I think one was a 4 pitch walk. 2 runs but I think both were unearned. You can tell hes 18 or 19, whichever he is. Really loose and i guess you could say "sloppy" on the mound. All of which can be taught. consistent 95 mph fastball. threw a few 87 88. I'm guessing slider which he wasnt throwing as a senior due to a small shoulder injury. 76/77 mph curve which what looked like broke pretty good.

Overall I was highly impressed. Was hopi g to see 97 and maybe a little more control. He also got very upset on one of the walks and was pissed when he got yanked. Good fire for a single A game.

Nice! Haha, I was close!! Thought he had at least 2 walks. I actually didnt get to get into it as much as I would have liked but saw some good friends. Cant complain.

Short to the ball, quick hands.

Going to unlock more power as he grows up, you can just tell his frame is capable of supporting a bit more bulk in his upper body.

Going to continue to echo that I think he could get called up today to the MLB level and produce...he’s so advanced as a hitter it’s not even funny. Doesn’t belong in A level ball at all.

Any chance he jumps to AA by year’s end if he continues to dominate at Lynchburg?

I'm pretty sure that if we have a black hole at 2B next year I'm going to be calling for him to move up to the bigs.

You guys have me so excited for Freeman and Valera right now.

I think it depends.

Akron makes the playoffs and Lynchburg doesn’t? I think you could see him up for the playoffs just to play more games.

But regardless, I think he starts next year in Akron. Think it would be a mistake to keep him in A ball for another half of a season next year. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him and Nolan Jones trend upwards around the same time frame, similar to how Kip and Chisenhall came up.
