2019 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Annnnnd, he's out after 2.2 innings and one run. Topped out at 94, pretty straight.

Bauer and Kluber will both likely be off the books in 2021, but at that time we may try to extend, Clev, Bieber, so our main three on paper would Carrasco, Clev, Bieber then have two of the best of the remaining talents we have in the system. In the end we may end up with the same amount of money tied into our starters, but we should have equal production at the bare minimum. We have setup a very good future pipeline wise for the starting pitching and I dont expect it to stop anytime soon.

Please explain why Kluber will likely be off the books in 2021.

He's still under contract and I'm fairly certain trading an ace like him is never "likely."

Nolan Jones' debut was a bit sour; 0/4, 2K. Looked rather stiff at 3B. Nevertheless, I was delighted to learn that Logan Ice wears the number 9!

It's his age 35 season, he is slated to make 18 mil, but have a 1 mil buyout. That is the season if Lindor isnt signed/dont feel like we can keep him, Lindor will be traded, and its possible we could trade Ramirez and maybe not do the option year on Hand/trade Hand in the offseason. I just cannot see us keeping Kluber at 18 mil regardless if we sign Lindor or not, when most of the current team will be in arbitration. If Lindor isn't resigned, we may move a few veterans and extend some guys like Clev, Bieber, Bauers etc that season for the long term.

I have a hunch he is on the downward of his career, so after 2020, it is time to let Kluber go.

There seems to be a pretty strong opinion that Nolan Jones is not going to be a 3B.

He was our lone representative in Keith Law’s midseason top 50 (at #50)

In his short write-up, he said despite beating the drum for Nolan to remain at 3B in the past, he seems destined for RF.

Also.... add Aaron Bracho to the list of breakout prospects. Finished a double short of the cycle today. He and George Valera were the big money guys in the same July 2 class but Bracho was injured all last season which delayed his debut. Signed as a SS but has played 2B exclusively in AZ.

Only batting .250 but has 5 HR and more BB's (12) than K's (11) and an OPS of 1.042

People might forget that he was pretty much evenly rated with Valera. He’s pretty advanced for a young switch hitter, and perhaps even more rare, he has good power from both sides already as a teen.

Him, Valera, Rodriguez, and now Pastrano are the 4 highest rated international guys they’ve ever signed in the era where they rank international prospects. And they’ve grabbed that crop in the last 3 years. Should only get better moving forward. Exciting times for the international crop.

@AZ_ @Derek @BimboColesHair I have some question for ya guys like usual. Just curious what ya think!

AAA

Both Johnson and Chang have been on a hot streak of late. If we do not acquire another bat at the trade deadline, I could easily see a swap of Bradley and Johnson at the pro level. It will be hard to keep Johnson in the minors with the way he is playing! Doesn't mean he will succeed the first time, but next season, he really may earn himself a starting nod at the big club!

What do you guys think of the trio of Kaminsky, Tully and Hill at AAA? I know all three are fringe guys right now, but do you see any upside in the pros as bullpen arm, or will they just end up AAA/AAAA type of pitchers? Kaminsky was considered a solid prospect at one point but lost that due to injuries. Hill's cards didn't play for him well in the last season/start of this season, but numbers this year says he looks solid in the limit time he pitched (13 innings, no runs). Just hard to get any info on a 17th round pick.

Ka'ai Tom also has been keeping the hot bat from AA to AAA. We will see in the off season what the Indians/scouts really think of him (Rule 5 eligible if not added to the 40 man). I know he was on the Indians top 30 prospects a few years ago, so they liked him at one point. Does anyone know if he made a change to his swing, since his numbers are not the same this year at all. This feels like it has to be more than just him doing the same old, same old.

Newly acquired Maton, hasn't pitched yet for the AAA roster, so could anyone introduce us to the new guy? Doesn't have a good MLB record yet, but his AAA stats look solid.

AA

Clement is another bat that is doing well in the minor leagues. After a slow start, he has been hitting consistently over .300 at AA. Morgan looks like last season with some growing pains, moving up a level, but still is pitching well overall. Scott, pitched a dud in his last outing, but overall hasn't been bad. Cleveland's newly acquired Stephens, looks like he will be a reliever here, rather than a starter unlike in the White Soxs system. Hasn't been bad, but hasn't been great either, by the numbers. Broom is pitching well still at AA, while Nelson's last few outings haven't been as good. Both guys though are likely AAA relievers/could join the big club next season.

A+

Freeman and Oscar Gonzalez are both still hitting the ball well at Lynchburg. Benson on the other hand is struggling with Mendoza. His repeat of A+ will be his make or break I feel honestly.

Hillman hasn't been good of late, he is really the only pitcher of note left at Lynchburg. Any other pitcher at lynchburg worth noting?

Eli Morgan has been promoted to Columbus from Akron. I would imagine that he’s on track to replace Plutko in the rotation at some point and make a few starts up here until Kluber or Carrasco return.
