2019 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
@Derek @BimboColesHair @EdMonix11 @AZ_ and anyone else who wants to participate (maybe @Urban )

Sorry for tagging you, but honestly I would love to hear your season ending top 10 prospects, then maybe do 5 risers this season and 5 guys who have fallen. Sorry but I kind of like these type of updates about the minor league guys since it keeps me up to date with everything that is going on down there and I am sure others like to read it as well.

I'm not as versed as some of the guys here, but here are my top-15 at the end of the season:
  1. Nolan Jones
  2. Tyler Freeman
  3. Triston McKenzie
  4. Bo Naylor
  5. George Valera
  6. Logan Allen
  7. Ethan Hankins
  8. Bobby Bradley
  9. Daniel Espino
  10. Sam Hentges
  11. Brayan Rocchio
  12. Gabriel Rodriguez
  13. Daniel Johnson
  14. Yu Chang
  15. James Karinchak

My opinion carries less weight than the others you mentioned, but here goes:

1. Nolan Jones
2. Tyler Freeman
3. Triston McKenzie
4. George Valera
5. Brayan Rocchio
6. Logan Allen
7. Bo Naylor
8. Ethan Hankins
9. Daniel Espino
10. Gabriel Rodriguez

Rather than Top 5 Fallers, let's just say Top 3 Disappointments?

1. Triston McKenzie, RHP- Obvious did not pitch. Frame and durability concerns are valid

2. Luis Oviedo, RHP- the expectations were sky high, but Oviedo had a really disappointing season that ended towards the end of July with a back injury

3. Logan Allen, LHP- Obvious we didn't have any pre-season expectations for him. But had a pretty awful 2019 season after a very good 2018. Hopefully the Indians can get him back on track

Others, no order, and to varying degrees of course.

Bobby Bradley, 1B- Maybe a bit hot take-y from a guy who hit 33 HR. Disappointing in the sense that he had a 3:1 BB:K ratio and was striking out 34% of the time. I think he has too much swing and miss at the plate.

Sam Henteges, LHP- after a breakout 2018, the giant lefty really struggled in 2019 with Akron. Maybe we see a transition from starter to reliever, where many have projected him all along. Interesting to see if the Indians protect him and if someone goes for him, if they do not

Will Benson, OF- Disappointing in the sense that he seemingly took such a big step forward while with LC, but took a giant step backward when promoted to Lynchburg. Similar K and BB numbers, but his power was zapped

Lenny Torres, RHP- 3rd player CLE selected in 2018, had Tommy John in May

Marcos Gonzalez, IF- Considered at the time to be the Indians Top International Signing in 2016. Missed nearly the whole season with injury.

Hello everyone.. I'm new to this board in general & this thread in particular (kudos to daddywags for bringing it to my attention).

After a short review of the thread, I would like to mention 2 local podcasts that did a good job reviewing the Tribe minor league system & the prospects within during the 2019 season. I would encourage people to download & review these FREE shows to get better idea about the system.

1 show is The Farm Report podcast put on by Indians Baseball Insider. The other is Indians on Deck podcast put on by Lets Go Tribe..

If people already had awareness of both shows, great. If not, I think people will be pleased by the insights & content.

As for a post season ranking of the Tribe prospects, I will try to share my thoughts in the next week or so & various free source items as they are published during the off season...
As an FYI - I located 25 different sources last off-season & another 10 different rankings of Farm systems last off-season (Tribe had an avg ranking of 18.2, good for 19th in baseball from that gathering).
