2019 MLB Postseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Happy for Yan, sad for Brant to be the final out.

Great series, though.

I mean I'm not sad for Brant, I remember reading on here how he had one foot out of the door and whatnot. Sounded like he couldn't wait to move on. Pretty neutral now regarding him, respect all he's done and didn't get to do with us, but I'm not sad about him experiencing another loser in the WS.

I guess I don’t have ill feelings toward him. He had injuries in Cleveland. But, he had the reputation of being a hard worker that tried to return as soon as humanly possible from them. From what I’ve gathered he gave the Tribe everything he had when he was here. I can’t ask much more.

Twitter, always a level-headed place, is really upset that Hinch didn't throw Cole

Can't help but disagree considering he was only on 2 days rest. Hinch basically did the opposite of what Dave Roberts did in Game 5 of the NLDS, where Roberts trusted a very good starter on short rest rather than his very good bullpen. Will Harris had been great all season and all postseason, up until Game 6

I also don't get the criticism of yanking Greinke too early. Greinke was cruising until he wasn't. He just gave up a HR and walk the 3rd time through the order, in what was then a 1 run game in Game 7 of the World Series.

Sometimes your bullpen just doesn't get it done. Go Nats and hopefully Cole doesn't end up with the Yankees

Answer for your crimes

I feel as is the baseball gods are just having Houston lose. I was pleased.

Most of the goobers who claim the Nats didn't have a chance are the same people who think regular season record against teams with winning record matters.

Hopefully it can be a lesson that you just need to get in the playoffs and everyone has a shot depending on how the team is playing as you enter.

My main hope from the Nats winning is to show the various "nay-sayers" that the Tribe is still contending for the title.
Let's compare:
Nats/ Tribe - same record in 2019
Nats/ Tribe - strength of club is starting pitching
Nats/ Tribe - a couple of good bullpen pieces
Nats/ Tribe - a couple great players in the lineup & a handful of role players doing a job

The Tribe is not in need of spending $40M in free agency to get a couple of pieces and the Tribe is not in need of massive tear down & rebuild.
They are in a position to contend in 2020 & moving forward.. Breaking spring training with a legit chance to win is all I hope for each year..

Keying in on "couple" in particular, because that's exactly the right word. The Nats largely used a 3 man bullpen for most of the postseason (Corbin too) when he was available. That's the luxury of a great starting rotation. I do not think the rest of their bullpen ever pitched in a game where the Nats were not up by a large amount of runs or down by any fewer than 3 runs.

And yet still they didn't blow a lead after the 7th inning. Really impressive by the bullpen

also here is a good stat for everyone. For the first time in any professional sports league best of 7 series, the away team won every game of the series.

There have been of 1400 best of 7 series and its never happened before.

#neat

#never forget the warriors blew a 3-1 lead

The Nats did what the Indians couldn't do in 2016, cool story, good for them. When you get your shot, you damn well better deliver because you don't know when the stars will align again. We watched the Tribe win 22 in a row and get eliminated in the first round. Baseball is weird.

Hopefully Nationals inspire the Indians brass and they put together a better team than yesterday, that series was just as fun as 2016.
