2019 MLB Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It would be pretty unprecedented for a team to trade a starting pitcher of Bauer's caliber while currently holding a playoff spot.

I'm not sure if there is a trade out there that makes the Indians a better team for 2019. There could be a slam dunk Chris Archer type trade out there, but if it doesn't make the team better for this year, it is going to be a really hard sell to the locker room and the fans.

In any case, I trust the front office to weigh the pros/cons and make the best decision.

You'd gut your farm system for him but he is signed through 2021... What would the price be? McKenzie, Jones and Freeman?

No more than 1 of those guys, IMO. And I'd prefer to stay away.

-33 years old
-Owed as much as $73m over the next 4 years
-Atrocious splits away from Coors
-Bad, declining defender

MLB Network just reported Colorado is listening to offers for Charlie Blackmon

If it was before the season started, I would have thought Blackmon would have been a target to replace Brantley, but right now, I would not trade for him.

Reasons why:

1) Blackmon is a career .259/.311/.426 away from Coors field.
2) He no longer plays a plus in the OF, so he would be a DH
3) Bats from the left side
4) Price would be way to high since he has team control, it would be to much on the budget and prospect wise going forward
5) He would not be an improvement over current players playing in the DH with his career road numbers.

.415 batting average and .848 slugging percentage at Coors. Absolutely absurd numbers

Coors field numbers always take with a grain of salt, numbers are always higher than anywhere else. Usually if you cannot hit at Coors Field then you don't need to be in the pros period.

If we would be traded for any left handed OF, it would be like an Adam Eaton type of guy, who has a team friendly contract, plays a solid corner OF, and can be used just about anywhere in the lineup (Though we would use him at the top so Lindor can move down in the lineup).

No thanks to Blackmon unless he comes for free and Colorado covers a good chunk of his salary.

He is a proven big leaguer, but why trade for him, when Bauers puts up a similar production (to his road stats) in LF and Johnson is ready and waiting in the minors to be moved up. He isn't a rental and won't be cheap so if we are going to pay for someone, I'd rather put the same prospects into an Adam Eaton if we are going to trade as much as Colorado probably wants.

That was my first thought is I hate trading for Colorado bats, below 700 OPS away from coors is not worth trading for at all.

.657 OPS away from Coors

You'd gut your farm system?
I assume that the expected price would be gutting your farm system for him. I don't think the Rockies would entertain talks with someone who values him simply at his OPS away from Coors Field.

I have no idea what I would do--I was just asking what a realistic price would be for him. That's still one part of baseball I can't ever really pin down accurately.

Heck, I might be very, very wrong, but I'd imagine the Rockies would be selling him as one of the best hitters in baseball, under multiple years of team control.

Everybody is cashing in on 1-year rental championships. Let's not get greedy.

Trade Bauer for a proven hitter; have Cookie come back from Leukemia and pitch well in the WS (great story). Kluber back and dominant.

That's all she wrote.
