2019 MLB Trade Deadline

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is his height (5'9) a concern for you considering the lack of major league starters that size outside of Marcus Stroman?

I mean, definitely.

But less so than I once did. Kid can spin it.

Got to build up the innings but he’s missing bats at an absurd clip.

Where is everyone at now? Buy? Sell? In between?

I'd dangle Bauer myself. I wouldn't deal him just to move him, but if you can maximize his value now you do it. Aside from that I'd look at rentals that can be had for lower-tier prospects. More specificly, I'd look to add a corner OF to push Bauers to the bench, Columbus, or sharing DH with Bradley.

Squad is coming together. For whatever reason, our freak out in May and early June was just the usual slowass start for Tito’s teams.
I agree with the Bauer stuff. I wouldn’t look to move him, but If we are offered the world for him, you take it if he’s still completely not interested in a long term deal.

Somewhere in the middle, right where I've been since last year.

Make the moves that are best for your current contention window, which runs through 2 more years after this one. Be willing to move assets that won't be a part of that window, or deal from a position of strength to make your organization as a whole better.

Trevor Bauer, as much as I love him, is the piece I dangle. There should be a huge demand for a starting pitcher of his caliber with a full year of team control after this season. I doubt he's here after next year. And, we can afford to deal one of our starters because of the depth we've created.

The target I'd still love to acquire is Whit Merrifield. He'd be so perfect solidifying the OF this year, and taking over 2B duties from Kipnis next year.

Stating the obvious, but a lot of it depends on the next 3 weeks. The schedule is an absolute joke and this is their best opportunity to gain ground on Minnesota while also building up games in the Wild Card standings.

Still leaning on trading him since I am still not much of a believer in this team. That comes from where they currently sit in the Central, Jose's struggles, and injuries to Kluber & Carrasco.

Yeah, I'd still be down for trading Bauer for a great package, but want to hang on to other trade potential guys like Hand.

With the way our rotation has been this year, Bauer is a great asset to have, but not completely necessary. If we can get a haul for him, I say you do it.

When everybody is healthy - Kluber, Clevinger, Bieber, Plesac, and one of Jefry/Plutko/Civale/Carrasco (if he's healthy) is more than enough to hold down the fort for not only this season, but the future as well.

Indians have a lot to be excited about both right now and in the future at SP.

#blowitup

Can you at least attempt to add something to this section instead of your useless one-liners that you hit and run with in here? You've been here for over a decade dude, and all you do is troll and spam this board with the same two or three things all season long; you should know better. If you're not an Indians fan, which I highly doubt you are, then fine, but there's no need to keep posting your senseless drivel with absolutely nothing backing it up all the time. It's fucking annoying, dude.

Fucking thank you. He contributes absolutely nothing.

Whit Merrifield is on such a cheap deal until 2023 that it's going to be next to impossible for the Indians to get him. It has to be the most team friendly contract in baseball now that Jose isn't Jose.

IMO this is our last year we can go for it. Bauer and Kluber are mostly likely on their last year. Who knows what happens with cookie if he can ever stay healthy. Once those guys are all back we make our final stand. If we can pull off another jay bruce/Donaldson move do it. Blow it up in the offseason if things don’t work out. Our young guys are good enough that we won’t bottom out completely.

For the blow it up people, who exactly do you want to get rid of in the great blow up of 2019? We’ve already had a lot of roster over turn. Why wouldn’t you trade just Bauer for young bats with the way this organization is developing pitchers right now?

I do not quite follow your logic here.

The Indians rotation has held up pretty well recently without Kluber and Carrasco. Let's assume the Indians trade Bauer at the deadline or in the offseason, keep Kluber, and for absolute worst case scenario let's say Carrasco still isn't healthy. You still have 3 excellent starters in Kluber, Clevinger, and Bieber. Plesac would figure to be the next guy in there- so far he has looked excellent. Then your #5 you are looking atCivale, Jefry, or maybe even Plutko. You have McKenzie in the wings, assuming he can stay healthy. Eli Morgan is another guy who could be ready before too long. In any case, the starting pitching staff is super deep

As far as the lineup goes, you'd think young guys like Mercado, Bauers, and Bradley will continue to grow as players. Daniel Johnson will likely be ready. The Indians would likely get back one really good offensive prospect from a Trevor Bauer trade. Maybe Jose figures himself out.

This team could easily be better next year.

I think we are substantially under last years total salary; hopefully a few "Bruce-like" trades can happen for us. The Mariners choked on $11.25 of Bruce's $14M then traded him to the Phillies.

As for what I would like to see us do is evaluate where we are at and if Bauer can net us a serious haul; like top of baseball prospects & guys that contribute now. Do it. I would be fine with our rotation regardless. If not, ride it out.

I also think we can be buyers even if trading Trevor. A few names I wouldnt mind looking at: Castellanos, Frazier (if he can be had relatively cheap), maybe Smoak. Not sure who I would want after that. We arent going to out hit teams in the playoffs. So I am not entirely sure these guys will make all that much difference.
