2019 NBA Playoffs Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He would still get offered a max from some team. Worth the gamble.

If it's an Achilles tear, I just don't see some team taking that gamble and giving him a 4 year max. Maybe someone gives him a one year max with an team option year.

I think he just opts into the Warriors option he has now or they give him some good will contract and give him the one and one with a player option.

It already hard to build a team with the salary cap. To handicap a team for multiple years of 38+ million just to gamble on a 30 year old player who could be coming off one of the worse injuries for a basketball player, is basically a GM putting a timer on his job.

I would be disappointed in Dan Gilbert if he didn't offer KD a 4 year max deal.

The cavs don't have the cap space to do that. Of the teams with cap space, who would take that risk if it is a Achilles tear. Even the teams with two max slots would be hard press to recruit another player to wait for Durant to get better.

Here is an article about Achilles tears when Cousins tore his last year. https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2018/1...njury-golden-state-warriors-this-is-the-worst

Skip is about to be in Kawhai's ass for not having the ball in the final two minutes. He probably just came all over his condo. Skip and Shan is my favorite trash to listen to at work haha.

Who cares what that no ratings, asshole thinks. I didn't even know that idiot still had a show.

100% the managements fault. The players will always lace them up. It’s a different mentality. This has clearly been an Achilles issue from jump street. They fucked KD over badly

Management on both the team and Durant's people. His agent should have constantly telling him how much he was risking by playing.

You hate to see it, but considering this is the kind of thing that gets Cavs teams' front offices excoriated....

I honestly thought KD would have said "nah".

I forgot how much the Cavs were over the cap. If they had the cap space, I'd still want them to offer KD the max. Worth the gamble.

There's only 1 and I seriously mean one NBA player to come back from this and that's Dominique Wilkin. This is career changing injury. Dude just fucked up career for what so his sorry ass team can lose by dozen next game. His agent and the team are a bunch of idiots.

It would be a terrible idea... I can not stress how serious this injury is look at shitholes Cousins who is now their 3rd center. People please read up on this it's like death sentence in the NBA

I understand that and I would still offer him the max. KD will still be a top player when he recovers. His production will decline, but he will still be great.

If it does ruin his career? It's only a 4 year deal. We gave Kevin Love > $30 mil/year.

There will be a team with cap space that will be willing to take the gamble and offer him a max.

I hate to say it, but this is karma at its finest. The guy sold his soul to play for a team that didn’t need him so he could piggy back on their success. These kinds of things have a price. I doubt he’ll come back from this at his age. Sad, because he never really proved he could run a team and win on his own.

Varejao tore his Achilles and Windy would say that after Varejao even recovered he couldn't jump over a phone book.

To think that Durant will come back the same or even close to it would be considered a miracle. Bob Myer was crying when he was telling the press that it's an Achilles injury. He know that his group in the front office and medical staff had a huge part in basically ruining a current top 3 players career.

It even sounds more cruel and greedy when you think they risk his career for a 4th championship in 5 years when down 3-1 and only one team has ever come back to win.

You almost hope that Adam Silver steps in to force the Warriors to offer Durant the supermax. If he comes back or not, he earn that money purely on the stupidity of those around him and in the warriors organization.

He is vastly superior to Varejao though. Varejao was never very athletic. KD will never be the same, but the KD that emerges from this should still be a prolific scorer.

Man, the fucking media is so biased it's insane. I heard NOTHING when the Warriors fans cheered Kawhi's injury a couple of years ago. And if I'm not mistaken, they did the same for the Kyrie injury in 2015.

Ultimately, it was dumb of the Raptors fans to boo the injury but it came soon after KD fouled Van Vleet multiple times and then jawed at him. It also came after the refs basically started gifting the Warriors points. Draymond gets a pass for being over emotional and saying shit but a fanbase can't? I don't condone it, but no chance in hell that injury didn't stem from the one he suffered earlier. Whether they said it was a calf or not, it was a non contact injury. As was the one today.
