2019 NBA Playoffs Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I don't think this means the end of their dynasty. Steph, Klay, and Draymond can still hang with just about anyone. They shuffle out those weak ass role players and Demarcus, then they're right back at the top of the conference.

I just don't think they are going to get the ring chasers next year with Durant most likely out of commission and/or on another team.

They will have a hard time resigning their younger guys as each comes up because their luxury tax bill will never go away.

Kawhi wants the star endorsements he deserves as a top 3 player. I'm not sure LA talk was anything more than attempt to make that happen.

He will see the star treatment when they have the parade in Toronto. Then the phone will ring off the hook for every Canadian company to endorse Kawhi if he comes back to the Raptors. He will get paid to be the face of basketball in Canada. I don't think any of his endorsements with international or US companies will take a hit if he is in Toronto vs LA. He will just have too much on the table from Canadian companies to say no.
He deserves it at this point since he's regularly been the best two way player in the NBA behind maybe Durant. Definitely top 5 in the NBA.

If it's more than an endorsement thing, like a homecoming then he should leave. Kawhi fulfilled his contract to the absolute fullest for Toronto. He be dumb to sign in Toronto when/IF he wants to be in California. Same deal with Lebron, I don't think anyone wants Lebron in Cleveland if he doesn't want to be in Cleveland.

If it's an ACL as rumored, I don't think he'll command nearly what he wants on the open market, unlike the way many teams will likely pay supermax for KD's coming medical redshirt year.

Although in this series he did look like a legit max when healthy.

Does he have a player option as KD does? Edit, looks like no, that changes things a lot.

Only the warriors can pay KD the supermax. I think teams will be more willing to pay a redshirt year of Klay with an ACL since it's an injury that alot of players comes back from with little to no effects to their game. KD's achilles is far more risky even if it has a higher return. We saw first hand tonight how an achilles injury can limit a player with how poorly Boogie looked tonight.

Not sure about the ringchasers not coming. They always gravitate to playoff teams and the Warriors are still in contention until their big 3 fall apart.

They probably lose Cousins and Looney this year. Which imo aren't big loses, they still have their 1st round pick and I would imagine Bell has a bigger role with them next year.

Klay leaves then it's a different story. I just don't think these fuckers go away quietly

Hope everybody here is happy we got to preserve our precious "Finals 3-1" shit. Kawhi stomping the Warriors in 6 his first year there overshadows our accomplishment. The Raptors, a team we've made our personal bitch, has pretty much now ascended beyond us on the NBA totem pole.

Absolute fuckin' disgrace.

I do think they will get ring chasers but not the cream of the crop. Someone will make a splash in free agency and Toronto will get their share now. Ring chasers try to go to the most sure thing, a warriors team without Durant is far less appealing than it has been the last couple seasons.

Not at all. This warriors team is akin to them beating us in 2015 they finally got some bad luck. I'm just glad another team won. Raptors fans are passionate and good natured in general. They deserve their time in the sun

Not to mention, in the playoffs, the Cavs owned them already, so there's nothing lost here. There is no way that coming back down 3-1 in the Finals against a team that came back down 3-1 in the Conference Championship, after winning the most games ever in the regular season with unanimous MVP on their team, for the first title EVER in franchise history..... for the first sports title in over 50 years in a city will be topped by this championship.

Toronto's last sports championship IIRC was a quarter century ago. about half of our time off.

With LeBron, the Cavs never lost a series to the Raptors in the playoffs. the closest they came was Biyombo putting on a performance that got him overpaid in Charlotte.

So I can't be mad at them. if this was Boston... with Kyrie on the team, it would be some bullshit.

Kawhi is going to get ridiculously overrated now, and his finals wasn't all that impressive, but golden state lost so I don't care. Steph has 0 finals Mvps in 5 appearances. Cousins didn't get the free ring he signed up for. Durant shredded his Achilles. Only thing that would make it better if it was Cleveland instead of Toronto winning
Would Klay tearing his knee apart make you feel better

Completely disagree. This title is nice for Toronto, but it doesn't come close to 2016. I know I don't have to repeat the details, but 2016 was something straight out of a movie. The Cavs were the first team in NBA history to come back after going down 3-1 in the finals. They did it against the best regular season team in NBA history. They did it against the first unanimous MVP in NBA history. That series featured some of the best playoff performances we've ever seen.

The 2016 warriors were much better than the team that played in this finals. Curry/Green/Thompson were all three years younger. Their bench was younger/deeper. This team was top heavy due to adding Durant's max salary.

The hometown kid came back after abandoning his city. He snapped a 50 year championship drought in historic fashion. It doesn't get better than that. Golden state lost, so the 3-1 jokes can still be made, and curry still doesn't have a finals MVP.

The Raptors title feels a lot like the 2015 Warriors more than anything. They faced an injury plagued team they would've lost to of they were completely healthy. I'm happy as hell that golden state lost, but I think everyone realizes they win if they were healthy.

I'll just leave this here
