Good lord.

Mahomes will get more than that and than Baker will get even more.

Yikes. This was with about a third of Goff's body of NFL work being demonstrably bad - not just when he was learning his rookie year, but in the Super Bowl. and really the rest of this past postseason.

It was never going to happen, but I remember the sabremetrics-heads on footballoutsiders suggesting that it may be worth it for him to let him walk.

Dak is gonna insanely overpaid now. Holy hell.
How are some of these teams going to be able to compete forever with these type of contracts.

Can we make a contract extension for Baker that aligns with what will likely be the uncapped year? Give him a huge roster bonus that year, so other years are smaller cap hits?

Potentially, yes.

Zeke back
That is an absurd amount of money to spend on a 24 year-old runningback. Zeke is not a top-5 pass catching back, power rushes on short yardage, nor fourth quarter runner. Adding to those problems is that he is already at the age where most RBs hit their prime and start to decline.

Zeke is an amazing runner and he absolutely makes Dak’s life significantly easier. But this is a huge overpay for a guy that just is not elite at the most efficient parts of a runningback’s game. Though, if the Cowboys plan to move on from Dak and rebuild, then I like this trade a lot more.

But if they move on from Dak and rebuild...what good does it do them to have that much money tied up in an RB on a rebuilding team?

The last two starters for Jerry have been Tony Romo and Dak- a UDFA and a 4th rounder. Maybe Jerry doesnt feel his team would have to rebuild if it moved on from Dak and would probably draft and have a replacement he likes. Or he just goes all out for hometown kid Baker Mayfield...

Honestly i would be floored if they actually move on. Jerry tends to keep his stars.

Antonio Brown literally posted the letter Mayock sent him fining him for missing mandatory practices to his Instagram story

At some point if you’re the raiders you just need to pull the plug. He’s made a complete mockery of them and they’re no where near talented enough to actually contend anyway. What a horribly run franchise

You have to think he won’t even play the entire season due to ‘injury’ right? I mean, in just a matter of months he’s caused literally nothing but problems. Once those losses pile up, am I supposed to think he’ll just keep putting forth his best effort when they’re sitting at 2-6 while LA or KC runs away with the West?

Gruden is going to make it to 1/3rd of that stupid ass decade-long contract and I’ll bet even casual fans saw it coming from a mile away.

Probably the most comparable organization when it comes to fan hardship, so part of me empathizes to be honest.

It's difficult to tell at this time whether Zeke will have McGahee/Gore/AP level longevity, or whether he'll be more like Todd Gurley, which will be the main factor on whether this was worth it. If they rebuild, he also will be able to single-handedly lift them from the cellar the way AP/Saquon have.

On that note, Saquon has the same longevity question; no doubt he is licking his chops at seeing what his coming payday will be like, even as he is frustrated with the Gettleman-Shurmur clown show.

It is a good thing that as good as Chubb's rookie year was, the Browns can easily move on at the position from any long-term plans, with the other pieces they have.

Man, I hear you, but I’m going to respectively disagree. 60 million dollars over three years is a pretty substantial amount of money to a player that has made a name off of slightly more than four yards per touch.

Zeke is the best at what he does and doesn’t have the health concerns Gurley did before signing his contract. I just don’t know if that’s enough to give him this type of deal.

What players are included in the sample to make these charts?

I’d be interested in looking at similar charts but filtering only on pro bowl players
