2019 NFL Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I always tell my buddy as muchas I hate them I root for the Ravens to make the playoffs.

Because theyre the Patriots kryptonite and the only way Pittsburgh can advance in the playoffs is for them to knock the Pats out first.

Pats got be kicking themselves for not taking Chubb. Because I think Michel stinks, and was a product of their system last year. When the line was better, and is being protected a lot by the play of Brady.

The line is weaken, and he's been exposed. Just not that explosive.

The teams are so different Rich.

If the game is in Foxborough, I am pretty confident the Ratbirds would get slaughtered. The days of beating the Pats, was when the Ravens had a fearless defense led by HOF players, that can get after Tom.. And I just don't see those Ravens at all.

Brady is starting to carve the shit out of this defense. Even if he's old.

Give old Billy a second look at Lamar, he'll expose his ass.

Historically the Ravens have had more playoff success against New England than anyone.

Pittsburgh the least.

But Pittsburgh has beaten Baltimore in the playoffs a bunch of times.

That's the point. Mike Tomlin cant beat Bill Belicheck (and Cowher couldnt either). But they both could beat the Ravens.

I applaud Harbaugh for molding a system to fit Jackson once he realized Flacco was done. Hes a good coach. Always has been.

That said, I dont think you can win a Superbowl in the modern NFL lile this. It favors passing too much. Lamar is a wonderful athlete. But right now that's it. Teams are gonna adjust and start forcing him to make plays down the field. They'll crowd up. Make their ends stay wide. Play press coverage and single safety and he'll have to win a game.

It’s fascinating that you think teams just haven’t realized this yet.

Their running game will eat teams alive that keep wider sets, and single high allows them to utilize players like Brown down the field to take the top off.

Dude is carving up the best defense in the league right now, in a death by a thousand cuts approach that is tough to stop for anyone. It’s going to take an incredibly amount of discipline to maintain that containment, while dominating the interior like Cleveland was able to do.

Make him take the top off over and over again. Not once a game.

No, I dont think this is sustainable long term.

Nor do I think its a wise way to use a QB. You gotta pay these guys a truck load of money and hes gonna end up having the shelf life of a running back.

Okay.
Enough.

I've had it.

Harbaugh is not a better coach than Belichick. Are you implying Harbaugh can out coach Belichick? Because that's ridiculous.

The success the Ravens had, was led by future HOFs, plural, and an elite defense that can get after Brady, and be physical against the Pats offense. The Ravens defense in the past matched up extremely well against the Pats offense, hence the success they had. The last time the Ravens beat the Pats (before tonight), they had Ray Lewis on the field. They hadn't beaten them since.

Teams have changed way too much since they've last met, to go on what happen in the past. When both teams are clearly different at this point.

I really don't take that much out of tonight's loss. Ravens won, fine. It's one game. Patriots were due to lose one.

They're at home, and this is the first time Belichick ever went against Lamar Jackson. There's no real preparation against him, until you see him.

He's a unique QB. If they meet again, it will be a much different story. They'll likely be in Foxborough, where they remain unbeaten for the last few seasons? Total different place to play these guys. And Belichick will erase the things he did well, and make him counter.

Pats play uncharacteristically sloppy tonight. They're too disciplined and well coached to expect that to continue.

I didn't once come across tonight the Ravens are actually better. The Pats were off tonight, Ravens took advantage and won.

Could you imagine?

The Pats would be the favorite for even longer.

Chubb could drag Brady's corpse along ala Terrell Davis and Elway.

Sure, he could have the shelf life of a running back...a RB like Willis McGahee or Frank Gore.

Even though Cam Newton is close to done, he lasted a lot longer than a lot of people expected. I know, I know, he's a lot bigger...

Or look at Russell Wilson, and that's with a generally bad OL. I know, maybe he's a bit more of a traditional passer, and Ciara may equal Gisele in providing the fountain of youth...

It’s a terrible way to defend the best rushing team in football, and you singularly picked out this point because I think you know that.

The Ravens don’t allow teams to play wide because of their sound addition of Mark Ingram. His presence between the tackles forces teams to stay honest.

Not like Lamar has taken any more punishment than Baker this year.

Russell Wilson is one of the best passers in the game. He also rarely takes a ton of contact when he scrambles because he's always willing to slide to avoid it.

On their 4 game win streak Lamar has thrown the ball 104 times and ran it 63 times.

175.8 passing yards per game and 99.8 rushing yards per game.

The Ravens don’t trust Lamar to be a passer. They can say they do all they want, They’ve shown it time and time again. When things get tough and they NEED to move the ball, they’re going back to their bread and butter. Using him as a runner first, thrower second.

15.8 rushing attempts per game during their win streak. I’m not even saying it’s not short term sustainable, but if you think racking up 200+ carries a season for a QB doesn’t mean his shelf life is much closer to a RB than a QB idk what to tell you

and if you think Bill sitting at 8-0 was putting all of his tricks on the table to play the Ravens in their stadium when he very may be playing them in Foxborough later this year then I also don’t know what to tell you
