2019 Rotation Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sexton
Hill
Hood
Love
TT

Bench: Clarkson, Cedi, Nance, Frye/Ziz (depending on what you need that night)

Korver/JR traded/bought out. By midseason I think/hope Cedi plays himself into the starting G/F spot & Hill gets moved for something.

Not much here in terms of "creator of offense" so when the games get tight and the defense stiffens, hard to see where the Cavs can really go. I think that protected Hawks pick may not be in as much danger as some fear here.

Whole lotta Sexton ISO, I'd guess. Lue's pretty good with specific plays out of timeouts and so on. Could we possibly get some coaching where actual plays are run on the regular? Either way, I agree they will likely struggle when things get tight.

I doubt Sexton starts this year. The Cavs will be showcasing Hill and Cedi is the only real SF they have:
Hill
Hood
Cedi
Love
TT(get rid of this guy)

Cavs should be bringing in a backup PG. Clarkson will not cut it at that position.

Clarkson attacks the defense. He needs to pass, and learn to finish, but he attacks. I just never see that with Hill. Still think Hill starts to begin with, but Sexton will have the opportunity to play into starter minutes.

I'd like to see Clarkson in JR's role, & JR off the team via trade or buyout.

With only 3 PGs on the roster (if you include Clarkson), and the high likelihood that George Hill gets traded at some point, there's a good chance that the Cavs will bring in an additional one.

A guy I'd target for cheap is Jawun Evans from LAC.

They have too many guaranteed contracts and will have to pay someone's salary waiving them. If they've already moved on from Evans (taken 39th overall, not much investment there), he'd be a guy under control I'd want to target.

Could send LAC Okaro White's minimum deal + cash covering White's salary in exchange for Evans. That way it would be a $0 net cost to LAC, who otherwise will have to eat some $$$ waiving a guaranteed deal. Cavs would get a young player still on a rookie contract with future control at the cost of just a roster spot and about $2m in cash. They'd still have more than half of their cash pool for trades remaining as well.

He trash doe.

I'd go after Tyrone Wallace or Shaquille Harrison.

Jawun Evans is unplayable at this point.

Spending cash on him is not wise imho.

He just turned 22 and is in his 2nd year. He was stuck playing almost entirely off the ball next to Lou Williams in all of his minutes last year. That's not where he's best suited at all, and was clearly uncomfortable playing in that role whenever I watched the Clips. Roughly 65% of his minutes were with Lou Williams according to Basketball Reference. That's ridiculous lol.

Of course he didn't play as well as you'd hope, but you're talking about your 14th or 15th man on the roster that you can get for cheap. When you want to rebuild without going full tank-mode, these are the sorts of fringe moves I'd want to be making to acquire young players in different ways than the draft.

Yea I like Ty Wallace a lot too.

Don't think that even PHX is dumb enough to move on from Shaquille Harrison though lol. He had a great SL from what I saw as well.

They have to choose between Davon Reed and Harrison right? I'd take either of them tbh.

Ty Wallce is a free agent now right? Don't believe he has any connection to LAC at the moment...? If that's the case, Jawun shouldn't even be in the conversation if we have a chance to get Ty. However, I'm not sure what's his asking price...I think he may ask for a bit more than you normally want to spend on a guy that might not get playing time.

Jawun Evans had a terrible summer leauge and he hasn't shown anything to me for me to believe he isn't a long shot to be successful in this league.

Teams are staying away from Wallace because he's restricted. IT's a two-way qualifying offer though, so it's pretty weird. Because two-ways are for so cheap that if he were to sign the qualifying offer then LAC could waive him for less than 100,000 guaranteed lol.

I didn't watch Evans in summer league so can't say how he played. #'s look bad but I imagine he was forced to take a back seat yet again playing next to LAC's rookies. Not saying Evans is a great player, just a guy that was fantastic in college that was in a tough situation last year and would come at very little cost.

I bet PHX is trying to dump Troy Daniels somewhere so they don't have to make that decision.

Since we already have a lot of ballhandlers and offensive creators, I'd be interested in an undersized 3&D type player rather than a true PG. Any good options on that front?

Jawun played off the bench and had the ball in his hands the majority of the time. He just couldn't run the team and the downgrade from SGA was very very noticeable.

I see that Ty declined LAC 4 year offer sheet. Don't know what the current status is, but he should be a bargain if they can't coem to an agreement.

Where do you get the idea that we have a lot of creators? We have Sexton and Osman, who are essentially rookies, and Hill, who was never that good at creating anyway, and is hopefully on his way out the door. We absolutely need more creators on the roster.
