2019 Rotation Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Since we already have a lot of ballhandlers and offensive creators, I'd be interested in an undersized 3&D type player rather than a true PG. Any good options on that front?

GSW signed Danuel House

Troy Willaims signed with the Pelicans...sigh.

Treveon Graham signed with the Nets

Davon Reed is still TBD

Seems like everyone is already signed...

I feel like this team lacks a really athletic wing...like some that are available in this draft. This is a need that we are going to need to fill for the long term.

I would also try to save every cash that we have to buy a 2nd round pick.

Jawun played off the bench and had the ball in his hands the majority of the time. He just couldn't run the team and the downgrade from SGA was very very noticeable.

I see that Ty declined LAC 4 year offer sheet. Don't know what the current status is, but he should be a bargain if they can't coem to an agreement.

Yeah, it was probably completely non-guaranteed in Year 3 and 4. He has almost no control right now. Clippers can just sit back and wait for him to sign a 1 or 2 year minimum with another team and they can just match it. Other teams know that and it's probably why his name hasn't come up much anywhere from what I've seen.

And if he can't find that minimum deal elsewhere then he's pretty much forced to play on a two-way again, or take a deal with non-guarantees from LAC. Don't think I've ever seen a team sign a guy to a minimum offer sheet before lol, would be interesting. I'd be pretty surprised if he isn't in LAC next season

Where do you get the idea that we have a lot of creators? We have Sexton and Osman, who are essentially rookies, and Hill, who was never that good at creating anyway, and is hopefully on his way out the door. We absolutely need more creators on the roster.

Scoochie Smith dog.

Question for the board, what do we do about rebounds? We were 23th in the league last year in rebounds and we lost over ten rebounds a game from last year's team. How do we make that up?

Zizic, Turkish Lebron

But who cares? Tanks don't need to rebound.

And just so you know, You will soon see that Lebron's rebounds were cherry picking. They were all boxing out for him.

Well, it seems increasingly likely that we're going to be stuck with Hood and Clarkson at least to start the season, both of whom will apparently be given ample opportunities to initiate the offense. People have been talking about running more of the offense through Love, too. That gives us a total of five players who will regularly be tasked with creating offense (possibly six if Zizic shines early on).

I forgot about Clarkson, but Hood isn't a creator. He can occasionally get a shot for himself, but that isn't a creator. And people can talk about whatever they want, but Lue has yet to show he will run anything through Love. Even if he does, we need perimeter players that can get past their man and get an open shot for someone else. Lue seems to want Clarkson to be Jamal Crawford, so that means he telling him not to create for others. Sexton and Osman are the two with the potential to do it.

If we end up keeping Hood on the QO, then I agree, he'll probably just be used as a floor spacer and possibly phased out of the rotation. If we offer him a long-term contract upwards of 10M/year, then we're probably going to try to recreate Utah Rodney Hood, who was a very high-usage offensive player. Not necessarily a guy who creates for others, but a guy who dominates the ball and creates for himself.

And speaking of long-term contracts, we didn't sign Love to a 120M extension to have him stand in the corner and shoot 3's while a D-Leaguer on a minimum contract pounds the air out of the ball. I imagine he'll be the #1 option even when our other primary creators are on the floor (though I admit Lue has defied common sense before).

Clarkson is not a creator; he’s a ball-hog. He shoots whether the shot is there or not, and he either doesn’t look, or doesn’t have to vision, to see if a guy has a better shot. That’s the OPPOSITE of creating.

I hate Clarkson as much as the next guy...but it's almost certainly true that if he's on the roster to start the season, he'll be used in a 6th-man role where he's frequently tasked with "creating" offense. Given that, it's not clear what role an additional veteran's minimum point guard ballhandler type would have on this team (which is the point I was originally trying to make).

I think another point guard could make the second unit run smoother. Similar to how Delly use to keep Dion in check, maybe we can find a PG that can make sure Clarkson doesn't become a blackhole and piss off his teammates everytime he steps on the floor.

Ideally we keep Sexton away from playing with Clarkson because we don't want then fighting each other for the ball. Hill could take the duty of running the second unit and keeping Clarkson in check but we would have to solidify a good offense around the starts before we could do that.

I'm not sure who on the open market would fit the bill as our backup PG. Not many options are available now especially with NBA experience. Aaron Craft would probably fit in but I'm not sure if his has an out clause in his European contract. I have a hard time seeing Scoochie and Clarkson fitting together.

Hill?

If we could get a solid veteran PG that would be ideal. But Clarkson isn't going to play second banana to a guy like Craft or Scoochie or some other D-League callup (unfortunately).

Delly! Let’s get the band back together! Let’s sign Kaun and Mozgov, while we’re at it!

Delly was so good about making sure Dion got his points while making sure the offense kept running smoothly. That's the type of PG I'd like. I don't think Dion ever felt he wasn't the focus of the second unit because Delly barely scored. I think Craft could do the same but not many other young PG could take a backseat scoring like that to keep everyone happy. Delly had his impact felt on the defensive side of the ball.
