2019 Series 22 Battle of Ohio Reds @ Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Mercado!!! That’s what I’m talking about!!!

Nice...Mercado walk off!

I was in attendance and impressed by the atmosphere for a Tuesday evening, although the Reds being in town and the weather certainly contributed. The Jose Ramirez experience has gone from alarming to flat out depressing, while Mercado has been a joy to watch.

Ramirez is in front of 97 MPH fastballs, and putting up good at bats, just he is not keeping the fastballs in play, and pressing more than he would have last season. He statistically cannot keep playing this bad, even so far this has been almost impossible to actual do on purpose. It literally feels like my fantasy football season a few years ago, I had the second most overall points in the league, but I didn't make the playoffs since I kept losing match ups and if you went over the points, I think it was like a 2200 points that I got, but I got 2400 scored against me and the next was like 2000 or so when it came to points against. It really feels like Jose's luck is going that way on him this season, he isn't batting poorly, nothing will go right for him. Yes Jose could be doing certain things better, but how he is doing so bad numbers wise is just not something you can keep up being so bad with and its not like he isn't putting up good at bats, since if you watch him, he isn't over powered by anyone, if anything, he is too violent with his swing and needs to hit the other way more, but work on that, and I think he will get back to normal.

Jose has looked even more jumpy which I didn’t think was possible.

Yeah, I was surprised there was an actual decent crowd there for a Tuesday night.

Jose has an option remaining. Just saying.

I've thought about this too.

Sending him down to High-A or even Lake County in an effort to work through his issues with timing and swing selection.

It's not wholly unprecedented.

The biggest issue is that there is absolutely nobody to replace him at the moment.

I would take 2 weeks of Adam Rosales or Eric Stamets if that meant Jose putting up his May stats and average defense after his sabbatical.

I began considering this scenario recently, although I am skeptical that the organization would go through with it because they’re concerned with how Jose would handle it. Something has to give though since it’s clear that no one has any other answers at this point.

We sac bunted Mercado so that the Reds could walk Santana and pitch to Naquin, who grounds into an inning ending double play.

Even if Naquin doesn't hit into a double play, it would've been Jose up next.

There is no possible way to spin Mercado bunting there as an acceptable decision.

Cleanup spot remains being a depressing black hole. We just can't get production from there consistently. The table was set!!
