2019 Series #23 | Indians @ Tigers | June 14th, 15th, and 16th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Love the positive signs. Jose also got a hit in each game, and two on Friday. 5 hits in a series is a nice step in the right direction for him.

The Jose hits almost feel like fool's gold at this point. His approach at the plate didn't look better to my untrained amateur eye.

I'm not looking to get an improvement up to a .260, 10HR Jose Ramirez. I want to let him find his comfort level again and gamble on getting back the stud that we saw the past couple seasons.

He has been super unlucky with his hitting as well which has been pointed out. He has been better from the right side this season, probably because he is under better control with his swing. I still feel in the second half of the season he will right the ship overall.

@Out of the Rafters at the Q

He is hitting .280/.347/.390 against lefties this season so he is hitting well from that side of the plate compared to his overall numbers.

1) Do you think we don't know his splits?
2) "Hitting well compared to his overall numbers" is just about every other player in baseball.

Jose Ramirez does not look himself up there at the plate. Now, he never looked poised--he always swung a bit wild, but I'm done pretending he's the same player just suffering from bad luck. He's not. That's 100% bullshit. Neither stats or the eye test back it up. If you're going to bring up BABIP, maybe look up what that term actually accounts for... see the first thing you have to remove from the equation? Home runs... because they're not in play. Look at what Jose's numbers would be this year if he had 20 HR's.

He's not driving the ball. He's not a threat. He should be in the minors figuring it out--or down eighth in our lineup while guys like Kipnis and Martin shouldn't even be in the majors.

Not everyone on here who reads this goes and reads the stats as often as we do. You have to remember we have a lot more lurkers than posters in this thread here mostly because they don't like to post cause of some of the regulars here, whether it would be me or AZ_. His splits pretty much say, when he is batting from the right side, he is still a legitimate hitter, while from the left side, he is all screwed up in general and needs to get back to the basics from that side. I am not disagreeing with you that he doesn't look like himself right now, his numbers are still worse than he is actually hitting because his luck has been bad when he has made good contact with the ball its been to someone, hence why the low BABIP and he has had 4 HRs which isn't going to effect the BABIP enough to care from that factor.

He will not be put into the minors, that won't help him at all, if anything that will make him worse at the end of the day (factoring in pride as the reason why). I don't also disagree with moving him down in the lineup, but at the same time, he won't get out of his funk if he doesn't get ABs either so that is a catch 22 in a sense. I still have faith he will find his way out of it, hence why I wanted to have EE around him to finish off the season/another ball player like that who could potentially help him out of his funk. From listening to the TV crew and Hamilton it sounds like Jose does things his own way and will continue to do so and its up to him to get out of this funk. Not much we can do except let him get out of it in due time which is frustrating as hell.

You're missing like 99% of the points here.

1) You responded to me with his righty splits--not the lurkers.
2) He's not a legitimate hitter from the right side--he's BELOW AVERAGE. Stop making shit up, and call it what it is. The MLB average OPS this year is .749, which is higher than the cherry-picked vs LHP stat of Jose Ramirez OPS at .729.
3) I disagree with your take on his BABIP being unreasonably low. Also, you're missing my point about HR's affecting BABIP... he doesn't have any power this year, which means that his BABIP will be lower than average, and that he isn't contributing in meaningful ways.
4) I'm glad you can say for certain that he won't get a trip to the minors to figure himself out a la Miguel Sano. If @sportscoach decrees it, it must be true.

Anyone watching Ramirez swing from either side and find him legitimate is almost automatically disqualified from a rational discussion.
