2019 Series #32 | Indians vs. Royals | July 19th, 20th, and 21st

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If I am asking the question seemingly I have a concern ,,,

As I said several of you paint yourselves as the experts .. thought you may have an answer ,,, my guess was Tito has a,plan

Thought one of you may know
If your concern is that this team doesn't have enough emergency infielders to cover if we suffer catastrophic injuries... Maybe you need to worry about other things... Like those catastrophic injuries.

I have no idea how to say this without coming across like a dick. At some point, contingency plans don't matter because the original incident already sunk you.

It's like being concerned that the Browns third string QB couldn't win games in the NFL. If you're at that point, you're already screwed.

If it's just for curiosity, cool. But if you're concerned, like you stated, I don't get it.

Did not say not enough at any point ... curious as to the who.. take it at face value

In the event that we lost two infielders in the same game, I'll say Kipnis and Lindor for this example, we'd probably set up our emergency MLB infield like this:

3B - Carlos Santana
SS - Mike Freeman
2B - Jose Ramirez
1B - Jake Bauers

If we lost one of our MLB infielders for an extended period, the most likely candidates to come up and replace them on our 40-man roster are:
- Andrew Velazquez
- Yu Chang
- Eric Stamets

@jack hammill as well.

Actually Stamets and Velazquez are hurt right now. We only have Chang in the minors who is on the 40 man and is healthy. Now that being said, you have guys at AAA, in Flaherty, Rosales, Moroff and Mathias. At AA you have Clement (who is close to a AAA call up). Also Luplow has experience at 3B (700+ minor league innings), Mercado at SS (2400+ minor league innings), Plawecki at 1B. So in emergency situations, I am sure those guys could fill in as needed. We do lack INF depth this season on the 40 man roster to be honest, but at the current moment, with 3 guys at AAA with MLB experience then Mathias, Clement, Freeman, Jones, having INF experience possibly making the 40 man roster within the next year or two, plus the loaded AZL and A teams, we don't have to worry about long term talent options.

Essentially right now if anything long term/60 day DL stints happen to any of the current INF players, Chang would be up and Flaherty would be on speed dial to add to the 40 man roster. Chang would start in place of whoever was injured.
