2019 Series #39 | Indians vs. Red Sox | August 12th, 13th, and 14th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does anyone know why Puig is serving his suspension now? I don't really know how suspensions work but Boston doesn't seem like the ideal team to do it against.
They mentioned on the espn broadcast last night that he was filing his citizenship papers yesterday so they figured they might as well do it now, which raises another question. Can you just pick when you want a player to serve out a suspension?

Reading through this thread i never realized how beloved Hafner was amongst you guys. I liked him too, i just think he would be at the top of so many of you guys lists. Was Robbie Alomar considered post-dynasty? If so he would be mine.

Well, they have a right to appeal to the league office which holds the suspension in abeyance until the hearing, which is usually held the next time the player is in New York (league offices). But the player can drop his appeal at any point before the hearing and immediately start the suspension, which gives the player and his team the ability to time the suspension somewhat. In this case Puig's hearing would have happened while we are in New York and he would have missed part of the 7 game stretch with the Yankees and Mets. Much better to serve it against the Sox.

I think my favorite player this century is Jose Ramirez, pitcher is Corey Kluber.

Post dynasty started in 2002 when they started cutting payroll and rebuilding.

I'm a bit younger than most of the guys that post in here, so I never really got to see Thome/Belle/Manny just mash on those 90s teams. My first ever slugger I saw on the Indians that I remember watching a ton of was Travis Hafner. I still remember that season where he hit 42 HR and hit 6 grand slams before missing all of September and having his career ruined after getting nailed in the face.

Hafner's 2006 campaign was pretty awesome.

.308 BA, .439 OBP, .659 SLG, 1.097 OPS, 42 HR, 117 RBI, 31 2B, 100 BB, 100 R, 5.9 WAR,

If he would've played 150 games at that pace (played 152 next season), he would've roughly finished with 49 HR, 136 RBI, 36 2B, 116 BB, 116 R, 6.9 WAR.

That was the year that Morneau robbed a bunch of guys of MVP, so if Hafner would've put up 50 HR, he probably could have snagged it.

I would consider the dynasty to be 94-01. Made the postseason every year but 94 (would’ve likely been the wildcard but post season cancelled due to strike) and 2000 (still win 90 games). Then didn’t have 90+ wins till 05 and didn’t make the playoffs till 07. 02 was also when the Dolans cut the payroll. Then the Bartolo Colon trade really marked the first time we were big sellers.

You need to win, more than once, to be a "dynasty". As good and fun as those Indians teams were, they don't deserve the label.

They were an AL dynasty. But yes, certainly not like you would think of the Patriots or 90s Cowboys. Don't mean a thing until you get that ring. But really it's just been piss poor luck that the Indians haven't won a title in the last 30 years. They have a great organization. Now the 50 years before that was an ass organization. Pretty much the Browns of baseball.

Who will be at the game tonight? I will be in town for it! Lol

I was thinking about going. I usually buy a cheap ticket, hang out in the corner for an inning or two. Then find seats on first base side and watch rest of game.

One of the most childish, bizarre things i can remember a professional athlete doing and my god are there a lot of instances to choose from.

What about when it was unfortunate that they had it on their air live when Randy Moss committed this DISGUSTING ACT.

Joe Buck’s phony outrage still amuses me. Having said that, I hope more than anything that we’re bitching about him again this October.

The way he wouldn't shut the hell up about Schwarber during the entire series was always really weird to me.

This for me.
