Please explain how "The season's over" is a positive comment.

I really want to hear this.
Never said the season was over. Said it was entertaining "at least". Not "It was entertaining, but the season's over". "At least" implies things could get better, but can't get worse. After a bad loss, I said it was at worst entertaining season, and now we have football ready to start.

I'm referring to the "it's been a fun ride" comment.

Sounds like you didn't mean it's over--but saying "it's been a fun ride" definitely looks that way.

And if I meant the season was over, I would've said "it's been entertaining, but this team is finished".

Perhaps the Indians section isn't for me.

The recent series against the big boys....Astros, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets, are a reminder that the Indians are a cut below. It's been a fun scrappy run since June, but this is a divisional series loss team at best. Just too many holes on this team. Good team, but not good enough. Still, any season above .500 is a good year.

The Indians split the games with the Yankees and crushed the overall run differential. What are you talking about?

Total runs in each series:

Against Astros: 13-11 in favor of Houston. Astros won 2 out of the 3.
Against Yankees: 34-20 in favor of Cleveland. Teams split the 4 game series.
Against Boston: 17-13 in favor of Boston. Boston won 2 out of the 3.
Against Twins: 21-14 in favor of Cleveland. Indians won 3 out of 4.

Totals 79 runs for and 74 runs against. The Indians went a combined 7-7 in these games.

I don't see "a cut below" in this. Any team that gets in has a real chance to go to win the world series. That's baseball. If the Tribe wins the division, they can hang with anyone in a series.

I didn't include the Mets because I couldn't care less about individual national league teams, particularly when the entire series is played in the same ballpark.

I personally think it's far too soon to bury this season. Even if the Tribe isn't quite as good as some of the other playoff contenders right now, playoff series often go to the hottest team, even if it wasn't the best team during the regular season. The Tribe surely is close enough to the other contenders to win if we go into October hot, and it's way too soon to know if that will be the case. Especially given some of the pitching uncertainty that could go either way. And we're still only 3 games out.

But on the flip side...being fatalistic or bummed out after a loss isn't a crime either. If guys think others are overreacting to losses or being too negative...so what? Anyone who has been a fan in this city for any length of time knows that's pretty much a tradition around here anyway.

ETA:

It's for everyone who isn't trying to disrupt it, which you weren't.

No sports forum can survive if the people in it aren't somewhat tolerant of differing opinions.

Gotta win tonight , Sox aint gonna keep helping us out. Must win the division to have any chance at advancing in the Playoffs

Tribe hasn't had a 3 game losing streak since May 25 thru 27 (Rays and Red Sox).

BTW- I am an old fogie but I have had enough of watching pitchers try to hit.

Naquin has a great arm this year for some reason, but his judgement of fly balls in the outfield continues to be Double-A level at best.

Syndergaard looks like a Cy Young guy tonight. Will be surprised if we get three hits, let alone three runs.

Sigh.
