jesus......back and forth....
There's no tiebreakers in baseball!PS - if the Tribe and Twins ended up with the same record, would there be a 1-game playoff or is there a tiebreaker in place?
There's no tiebreakers in baseball!
This. It would be a 1 game playoff.
If people remember last year, the NL Central and NL West both ended with 2 teams tied for the top spot. Each division had a 1 game playoff and the losers faced off in the NL Wild Card the following day.
Is there any legitimate defense for playing Ryan Flaherty over Chang?
Is this a legitimate gripe?
Chang has been awful, and Francona going with a LH against Turnbull isn't exactly an "out there" position.
Are you just playing the role of contrarian?
Chang's current OPS is still higher than Flaherty's career OPS.
Why not play the kid with the higher upside, who is going to provide similar if not greater value at the moment than a 32 year-old scrub?
Especially since Chang might be in consideration to play everyday next season, we need to see more of him.
I'm being the contrarian?
Chang's OPS .632, Flaherty is .629
They're playing Flaherty because he's a LH against the RH. Again, this seems like a weak gripe, over two players who both shouldn't be playing.
He isn't wrong though, 632 is higher than 629, while there is a valid argument the difference is statistically insignificant thus the statistical significance goes to the LH vs the RH significance. But Chang is a ..003 higher in OPS.
PS, I love the fact it ended up being so little, I didn't look up the stat because who cares, but I love people who argue with conviction when they are standing on very little significant facts to back up the conviction, but you know my humor by now, lol.
Right?
Like, damn you Tito! Did you not consider this .003 difference when, for some reason, you were using career OPS to make out this depleted lineup?!
