Hand is good. Wittgren has been good. Cimber had been good before tonight. Olson hasn't been that great this year, but he does have a multi-year track record of getting LHB out consistently. So that's four guys.
The biggest issue in the pen is that Perez might be washed and none of the Otero/Ramirez/Anderson triumvirate is trustworthy.
I assume Clippard is going to get called up here really soon to replace one of Anderson/Ramirez with the other being replaced when they recall Rodriguez to be the 5th starter again.
Then we're on Perez watch. The Indians guaranteed him 2.5M and I'm sure they're not dying to eat that money, but I don't know how much longer they can let him flail around either.
Honestly I agree with you outside of Otero, who outside of today actually has been good. He is a ground ball pitcher so he will always give up hits, but he has been getting guys out. Olson and Perez willl get more time since they are our only lefties. Hentges hasn't been strong this season, so we really don't have anyone else major league ready from the left side.
Anderson I thought they were going to put back into the rotation/stretch him out. He hasn't pitched since tommy john so its almost too soon for him to be 100% back to game speed. I think its too early to tell anything from him just yet.
We are all hoping someone like Wittgren/Clippard becomes the 8th inning guy, but I don't have high hopes for Oliver this season, so I don't doubt if we trade for a bullpen arm, it will be from the left side if Oliver Perez keeps struggling this season.
AJ Cole and Karinchak have looked good in the minors. so they may end up being the next guys up when it comes to bullpen arms. Most of us who do the minor league thread wouldn't even be afraid to get Karinchak to the pro team sooner rather than later.
@Marcus, the double headed did affect who we could put out, but we still need to have someone else be able to step up when our 7th inning guy like Cimber struggles. We still need a veteran to just come in and do the job needed to settle things down. Francona maybe kept Cimber in to long and that happens sometimes. It is a 162 game season and it will be corrected before the playoffs, just still a crappy loss.
