2019 Spring Training

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I get where you're coming from, but domestic violence and violence against women are emotional topics for me.

Respected. But leaving the public square because some people say things you disagree with isn't the answer, is it? In fact IMHO it's important you speak up and keep speaking up. The forum is better when people do speak up.

The message you posted in the other thread does need to be heard, not least by the person referenced in the thread title. You can bet he's hearing that message pretty consistently (it's been reported).

Hang in there.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/02/indians-sign-asher-wojciechowski-tim-federowicz.html

Indians signed righty Asher Wojciechowski and Catcher Tim Federowicz to minor league deals with an invite to spring training.

Asher is a just a AAAA type of guy, never has been anything special to be honest.

Now Federowicz likely is the 4th catcher on the depth chart now since he had MLB experience and likely will be the backup catcher for Haase at AAA. Probably will see a lot of him during the split squad part of the spring.

So the lead up to 2019.....

Lost Brantley to an AL playoff opponent
Lost Miller
Floated Kulber in trade talks
Attempted to undermine arbitration talks with Bauer
Lindor suffered a lower leg injury
Salazar seems to be mid season bullpen help at best

What am I missing here? Can anyone remember someone having a similar off-season and winning the world series?

Bauer for Senzel straight up and I wouldn't say no.
@Derek @Urban

(Figured it’s in both chats, so I would reply here instead)

This actually isn’t the first time a player has said this publically, but Bauer is also one to speak his mind regardless of the consequences it seems more often than not.

A lot of players do not like the arbitration process because of this since it always feels like the team is putting the player down so that they pay them less. One side says why they should get this and the other says why they shouldn’t and to most likely players who go through this hearing, really do hate the team bringing up and talking about everything they do wrong and why they should pay them this or this rate.

I mean the process isn’t bad, but it’s almost like the player shouldn’t be at these hearings cause of the negativity from the lawyers and whatnot.

Forgot we traded an All-Star Catcher and a 30 HR guy for young players as well.

Allen and Miller

We should make the playoffs, but we honestly don’t know what to expect from this team outside of having the best rotation in baseball. So chances of winning the World Series, ehh... not likely but with our staff, if our offense develops/the talent comes out of the young guys plus the bullpen rights itself, we actually aren’t out of it, just so so many ifs...

He and all other players know the lawyers are going to argue to devalue aspects of the player's game and a player can certainly take that personal. But again, he knew that going in and experienced that last year.

I don't think he expected the lawyers to argue that the Indians should pay him less citing the immature things he's done off the field. One of which, according to Bauer, was his charitable donations surrounding the number 69. That's not a great look for the Indians.

Bauer wanted to be there and will be back next year, even if the Indians are offering him $50 less than what he's asking for.

He is an unique character that is for sure. Actually may end up being a very good coach after he retires, but he does do things his own way.

The question is, is he just venting/saying something to say it or is he trying to make a change? We really don’t know and I don’t think he is actually 100% soured on the team itself, but it does make it hard to say he will stay here long term with his, will not take anything longer than a year contract at a time thing as well on top of those comments.

I highly doubt he'll be here past 2020

He is going to be a wild card every off season honestly since he will always switch to the best situation for him. He may come back for 2021 if we still look like a very strong contender, but he will be gone once the retool/rebuild starts.
