He'll go 8/18 for 18 points next week and someone will post a clip of him hitting a midrange shot on Twitter with the caption "you all owe this man an apology"

Never has the bar been lower for a former star player

Better game than my prediction, but the people who act like Melo was out of the league for no reason are wild.

The NBA has such a massive regular season problem and no clue how to fix it.

The Nets ducking Philly tonight, on a prime time game, is just the latest example.

In all honesty, I think one of the only things they could do to make things more competitive during the regular season is reduce the number of teams that make the playoffs.

Obviously they will never do that, but it’s one of the only ways I can think of that would force the top teams to show up every night. I struggle to think of anything else that would incentivize the teams or make the regular season better overall.

What's funny is that vid shows a play that teams want to avoid like the plague now.

no passing, one on one into a difficult midrange shot. Low percentage shot, Minimal chance for a 3 or AND1

I don’t get the comment that the NBA kept Melo out. “The NBA” had nothing to do with it; any of the 30 teams could have signed him but none of them did.

Orlando put a whooping on Chicago last night IN CHICAGO.

I can't believe that Vucevic trade isn't working out for them :chuckle:

Yea honestly Ainge is an above average drafter.

You don't hit them all. But he's hit enough.

And the fact that they've been to something like 3 out of the last 4 ECFs (or 4 of 5?) without 1 single top ten player on the team any of those times is pretty indicative that he's put together good, well-rounded teams.

Think about it like this.

They got to the ECF with a team led by Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder.

They then traded those guys for Kyrie Irving, and got there again (w/o Irving being healthy).

Irving leaves and still yet they get there AGAIN. So that's basically 3 different iterations of the team making the ECF in a very short span.

That's impressive man.
He also hired a brilliant coach, which we haven’t done since the 90s.

LaMarcus Aldridge is retiring right now.

Something about his heartbeat not feeling right after his last game.

Didn't he have issues with an irregular heartbeat earlier in his career?

It's crazy, it's like a six month exhibition season. Then you get guys getting injuries during the pointless regular season that end up determining the playoffs (witness Murray -- what was the point of that?). The irony is that the NBA playoffs are pretty much the best thing in sports. But man do you have to suffer to get there.

In some ideal world, I wonder if they could cut the regular season to like 40 games to determine seeding/let teams mesh, and then somehow make the playoffs longer. Maybe let everyone get in and have 7 game series each round. Radical change but wouldn't it be a lot more fun?
