So I listened to Lowe Post this AM and he raised a point at the end... what if Zion comes in as a top-20 player? This is what @Sir'Dom Pointer is getting at. If Zion comes in and can play at a prime Blake Griffin level, are the Pelicans a playoff team?

And just imagine if they'd have drafted Garland....

I know, i fucking love that. Could easily see donkey becoming a cancer on a non-cheat code club.
I don't know... I think the offense is still going to be dynamite. Their problem will be defense. I do believe they're closer to the #1 seed in the West than missing the playoffs.

the best thing about this nba season is we dont know whats going to happen. We knew exactly what would happen the last three years with the obvious exception of injuries. I think it was really bad for the nba.

I understand that every athlete needs to have confidence in himself, but the quotes in that article certainly don't paint Wiggins in a kind light.

How tough would it have been for him to say, "Yeah, I'm disappointed in how some things have gone. I've put in a lot of work this off-season, and I plan on proving them wrong"?

No, instead he gives them a quote about how he deserves more respect for that 24 ppg he put up on below-average efficiency 3 years ago on a 31 win team while playing no defense.

Remember when he was touted as and elite defensive prospect? good times. What the heck happened.

I was never much of a fan, but all that coaching turnover has certainly hindered whatever development he would have otherwise made.

Ja Morant is just terrible defensively right now. Shit.
Getting some weak calls in his favour too. Needs to get stronger.

He's gonna stay terrible for a good long while. His habits in college were bad. Very bad. He's not gonna break them anytime soon, I don't think.

Without Klay until March? You no longer have peak Steph or peak Draymond. You no longer have Klay or Iggy playing perimeter D or Livingston making life difficult on small guards. And on offense, Russell isn't exactly a 3 point shooter. Just keep Steph in check and let the others beat you. No way they are stopping you on the other end.

Didn't see anyone else mention this. How about the extension Beal got from the Wizards?? Two years, $72 Mill.

Man, he's a great player, but when that extension kicks in in 2021. That means in 2021 the Wiz will be paying a 31-year-old Wall $44 Mill and 28-year-old Beal $36 Mill for a combined $80 mill. Holy shit. $80 mill for a duo that has literally done nothing together. Not to mention the fact that both guys have some injury history.

Not seeing how that works out well for them considering Wall is essentially un-tradeable.

I think you do have peak Steph... The guy's numbers the past two seasons have been incredible. I also completely believe Steph is and has always been good enough to take a crappy team pretty far. His skills are just that deadly.

DLO is wait and see for me. I think there is a likely world where people were overrating him last year. Nonetheless, at OSU the guy was a really quick passer and moved around the floor pretty regularly. I think it is at least possible he ends up doing better around Steph and Kerr, like most guys seem to do.

The defensive drop off will be massive with Klay out and no Durant helping protect the rim. I really question Deangelo's ability to guard SGs for an entire season. McKinnie and Looney would be nice bench guys but I'm not sure how those guys are going to hold up over the course of a season.

They're going to need Green to take a serious step up this year or I think they miss the playoffs. I see them being a bottom third defensive team. Teams will just force McKinnie, Green, and Looney to beat them.

I'm not so sure. Look at Steph's advanced numbers... he quite clearly peaked in 2015-2016, the year we beat him. He is still a great player, but I think we are going to see how the grind without KD and Klay wears on him. He is going to be 32 in March.
