We don't really know how Collin ends up. If he can't hit a dagger to clinch a chip is he worse than Kyrie? What if he is the 2nd leading scorer on a series of playoff games? What if he misses only a handful of games in 10 years?

Right now he is giving us similar production to what Kyrie did at the same age. That's more than we could have asked for at the 8th pick.
It's shocking, other then ast they are very similar stat line at same age. Kyrie got the handles but up to this point Sexton got him in durability

The perception of their games is very different. Kyrie was an all-star his second year. Cavs win 24 games.

I dunno. With the way Collin is so raw, and how we know he works on his weaknesses, he might actually be really good. Being in the same draft as Doncic and Trae is hurting him

Josh Jackson looks like he's resurrected his career.
Memphis is just running a great rebuild. You stick with young guys for long periods of time while giving them opportunities to develop, sign and/or trade for high potential young layers that failed for their first team, maintain cap flexibility, and find a progressive coach.

I know they do not have Paul George and that today is Reggie Jackson's first game, but I am really not sure the additions of Marcus Morris and Jackson make the Clippers better, and they may end up worse.

Morris is a really good player, but he needs the ball in his hands, and that means you are taking it away from Lou, Kawhi, and PG. Ditto for Reggie Jackson. I am not sure where he gets minutes in the playoffs, though, I guess it is good because it means the Lakers did not get Reggie.

I don't know why we're trying to say Sexton is close to Kyrie at the same age. I'm seeing a pretty sizable gap when I look at the stats.

Both moves really only make sense if the plan was to screw the Lakers. Morris is a stretch 4 but they could have used another C and I really don't get what Reggie brings them. THey would have fit real well on the Lakers though

Ah maybe we said same age, but you are comparing rookie Sexton to 2nd year all-star Kyrie lol.

Just look again at their 2nd years and tell me why Kyrie was an all-star and Collin barely got into rising stars

And if you look since Clarkson was traded its even closer

Also Collin was also 20 starting this year. His birthday is in January and Kyries is in..... March lol

That’s my bad, not your’s

I still see a pretty significant gap though, especially when you start looking at per 100 possessions and then his box score numbers plus VORP

What's the gap? One is an all-star and the other one sucks?

Be honest, aren't they closer than you thought?

Not really? But I also look at numbers a lot.

That was my bad as well. I believe we both are referring to second year.

Sexton 2pt 48% 3pt 36% ft 85% eFG 50%
Kyrie 2pt 47% 3pt 39% ft 85% eFG 50%

Sexton and Kyrie look similar on scoring totals and percentages but nothing else —nowhere close on assists or advanced stats. Or the eye test for that matter

And if you want to cherry pick a 15 game run for Sexton you have to do the same for Kyrie

Not shitting on Sexton here, I do think he's somewhat underrated, but he's not Kyrie.

We got the best years from him, and it still prob cost us a title when he got hurt in 2015.

He's getting old really fast. I wish it hadn't gone down that way, but at least we got something for him.

The problem wasn't trading Kyrie per se, it was botching the trade so badly that we destroyed the entire roster and left Lebron with effectively no help at all in 2017-18. That destroyed any chance at all we might have had to keep Lebron. Hindsight is 20-20 but the fact is that Kyrie was an extremely valuable NBA commodity that year and we threw him away for basically nothing but an 8 pick in the 2018-19 draft (which was of course useless in 2017-18).
