No. But I realize that there are a lot of strings attached and additional expenses above and beyond just an employee salary, if that's what you're getting at.

I also understand that there is no free lunch and such. I don't know all the ins and outs of the bill other than that there are tons of "strings attached" as well as, as you said, the unemployment extension.

While the $600/wk addition is helpful and, in fact, would often bring a $50K salary person right up to where they were for those 4 months, there would also be a big benefit to just remaining on a company payroll if possible, as Gilbert/Cuban led the way on, rather than entering the newly saturated unemployment line.

There's lots of headlines that other teams are struggling to make this same tough decision, and I completely understand it; I also certainly don't understand all of the factors as well as NBA owners do.

My issue is less with the economic reality of it, and more of the PR failure of how the Sixers waited until the last days to get pressured into their change, hence why I said "publicly" consider this.

I see it as cultural.. there is an old school business attitude which is throw out the employees to save the business. Sometime you have to make that call to survive, but the Texas company docking worker paychecks for the stimulus amount is a good example of sociopathic management.. if you did not see this coming as a business owner, you should be fired..

Just googled that, wow, although understandably the identity was kept confidential.

From what I understand, the recipient has to, under most circumstances, give back the credit on next year's tax, though, so in this case the employees are coming out behind if they don't take other jobs or otherwise get paid back by the current employer in the next year.

I don't think the company has the right to dock pay, especially if that drops below minimum wage..

It's amazing to me the level of heartless in some business management over the past decade ago.. I think there is an attitude of "let them eat cake" in some global corps today. You would think that as we come outta this particular crazy, investors might consider tossing these knuckleheads for cratering the stock value by poor risk management..

God is this tone deaf. I wouldn’t expect anything less from Rachel Nichols though. Nobody is caring about the NBA’s revenue or whether of not these well off athletes are being paid. Not to mention, nobody gives a damn whether they can quarantine somewhere to finish a meaningless season of basketball.

Absolutely no perspective from these people.
