They literally were better last year. Significantly so.

This year has been a train wreck though. Hayward was a huge loss, and they've had a ton of injury/COVID issues.

Losing Hayward and Kemba basically turning into a shell of his former self after his knee problem is what it basically boils down to.

Both Tatum and especially Brown have made big strides, but having no one that is able to break down the defense and distribute transforms them to a team that is too reliant on iso rather than ball movement. They don't move the ball enough and their defense is just not good enough, especially with TT who provides no rim protection.

Oh, they also lack shooting from PF position. They had Hayward who provided much better spacing and ball handling.

Re losing Hayward, interesting how Charlotte, a team built around two Celtics castoffs (Hayward and Rozier) has a record just as good as Boston right now.

Also how good would we be if we would've done that Drummond for Hayward swap right now? We would still have Jarrett Allen too.

I wanted Hayward. Okoro could've been coming off the bench which is probably what he needs right now anyway. Hayward has been as good as some of us thought he would be and that contract doesn't look too bad right now at all.

Let's not rewrite history. There were a lot of people saying that BOS would be better with Kemba and that Kemba would be better than Kyrie.

Kyrie has a lot of haters and let me tell you, they were not shy when he left BOS.
Boston is better without Kyrie! Remember when he was out they looked so much better! The problem with the Celts is that their frontline has peaked. They also are in dire need of a big man! I truly believe they hurt themselves letting go of Al Horford even though he was kind of long in the tooth but he was still a capable score in the middle and from the perimeter! Something they are missing now!

I have an andre drummond they can have. How about Jaylen Brown and a pick?

Have I mentioned how much pleasure it brings me to watch Celtics fans come to grips with the fact Danny squandered most of his assets by trying to be such a shrewd GM and get over on every deal?

They were winning this game against Indy by double digits and Magic Sabonis just got like 3 assists on a run that cut the lead to two

Lol boston WAS better with Kemba.

Then Kemba got hurt and they lost Hayward.

That's not the same team.

And still, they're gonna be fine once Marcus Smart comes back.

BIg mistake was losing Horford and flipping the money for Walker.
I don't think Horford is worth that atrocious contract but they've been awful at the big man position and they had a guy who was a perfect fit for the modern NBA. Able to switch, pass, and shoot

Lol at the NBA coaches rallying around Lloyd Pierce.

Maybe Pierce will be a good coach but he is flat out underachieving with the roster given him.

Maybe the roster is mismatched and whatnot, but he's lost twice as many games as he's won. And they aren't spending money to miss the playoffs again.

Coaches always seem to rally around their colleagues, no matter how mediocre. I remember everybody rallying around Fiz, who in my opinion is an awful coach, or Lue when when we fired him. Even though pretty much every player was regressing under his leadership.

Houston going to retire Hardens number lmao. Has that shit ever happened while the player was still actively playing? What a joke

The GM who traded Luka because he thought he had the next Steph in Trae Young should be fired. Seems like Atlanta tried to build this thing too quickly then had a ton of injuries and Lloyd struggled to coach around that. Their FA signing (Rondo, Bogdan and Gallo) have all struggled and none have a FG% above 40% lol.

Denver has been the team I've been watching the most outside of the Cavs.

Jokic is my favorite player in the NBA and he's having one of the truly great offensive seasons ever. He's the MVP imo and I wish there were a way to trade them Kevin Love so they could make their very best run at it (although I don't really know if Love helps them that much, if at all).

But it's hard for me to really evaluate Porter Jr.

I like him. I like the way he styles his game. But Jokic is making the entire game so ridiculously easy for everyone else on that team that you just don't know what Porter Jr. would look like on a bad team with bad offensive players.
