TBH I'd be cool with just 8 teams in total.

Which means LeBron would be out this year and I'm sure he wouldn't be ok with that either.

I'm not a fan of it personally and agree with @Derek that I'd prefer less than more. 3 of the 4 play-in teams in the East don't even have a winning record this season. It is more "playoff" games for the NBA though and more $ as a result, so I have a feeling it will stick.

As I've said elsewhere I would love it if they cut the regular season in half and stuck everyone in the playoffs, with a couple of byes at the high end as well as seeding/home court to make the regular season worthwhile. The NBA playoffs aren't supposed to be March Madness but things are going that way so why not lean in to it and make it make sense. Right now, the NBA has the longest exhibition season in sports, with season and career defining injuries happening regularly in said exhibition season.

I am OK with cutting the regular season down but totally against everyone making it. March Madness is 64 teams but you have to still earn a berth during the regular season or with a great week in the conference tournament.

This is obviously premature.

But this is why I didn't understand AD signing that monster contract with LA.

LeBron ain't young the Lakers don't have any promising youth on the team.

Why not just a 2+1?

Are you telling me that all of their summer league heroes aren't future stars?

Jokic should have the MVP locked up at this point.

Since Murray went down, they're 8-1

Michael Porter Jr nearly doubling his scoring output from 12.5 ppg in February to 23.0 ppg in April has helped along with the trade for Aaron Gordon but Jokic had this thing locked up after Embiid went down IMO with 64 games played compared to 45 for Embiid.

I'm surprised I'm not seeing the usual "See, LeBron's teams can't win w/o him so even when he misses a ton of games he should STILL be the MVP!"

Brian Windhorst tried his best. Ended with Tim Bontemps calling him a jackass lol

What's everyone's take on the play in? LeBron has a pouty face.

LeBron always has a pouty face when things don't go his war. I don't recall LBJ complaining about it when the Players Association approved it in December, probably because he thought it wouldn't affect him. He's got no problem with making other guys play extra games as long as he doesn't have to. Pretty typical of him.

Lebron just creating his new narrative.. hold on.

He still has his own narcissistic story to tell, and he probably thinks it has a good ending.

The argument has always baffled me. People here used to make it.

The whole "see, his team sucks w/o him so he must be the most valuable!"

Yea..when he's playing. But you're literally adding zero value whatsoever when you aren't playing....

Westbrook has 21 rebounds and 24 assists tonight plus 14 points. How is that even possible?
I believe it's his fourth season now with a triple double average. This was something no one thought would ever be done again after Oscar, and he's done it multiple times now.

I know he's a hothead and rubs a lot of people the wrong way, but I've always loved Russ. He's in my top five all-time favorites.

Because Rich Paul only serves Lebron. All other clients are an after thought if Lebron is reaping the benefit. He also will leverage that relationship to garner higher offers so that when Lebron is a FA they get a seat at the table or to "please Lebron" (Tristan, AD, JR, KCP, etc). I don't think a single contract he's negotiated has ever benefitted a team in the long run. I know what is job is but things have gone horribly wrong for them. Once Lebron is done, AD will come to realize he alone is not a championship caliber player....so will everyone else & Rich will finally go back to selling jerseys.
