2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Hartensteins' dunk at the 9:14 mark of the 4th quarter were the
last points of the game scored by anyone on the team other than
Garland and Sexton.

What a front line we have.

Cavs are going to have a tough time matching the tanking going on the
5 teams below them in the lottery standings.

Cavs appear to be kings of the scrap heap.

Very difficult to watch them come apart late in a game.

not good enough to tank and not good enough for the play in spot. Perfectly Cleveland!

4/25 3 pt (16%), he’ll fit right in.

Less than 28% 3pt% at Penn State.
I'd like to see stevens with love and wade to mitigate stevens' lack of 3 of pt shooting. He basically plays center on offense because of his inability to shoot 3s

Center??????
yes. look at the cavs' plays. jarett or hartenstein would start on the FT line and set a pick towards the 3 pt line while everyone else stands behind the 3 line for the threat of a 3 pt shot. you cannot play stevens as a 3 pt threat so he is basically the screen setter+roll man, a role typically set for a center.

you can compensate with other players who can shoot from distance

{checks roster.. sighs deeply}

Well, regardless, I like what Lamar does defensively and off the ball on offense, plus he's got a nice little fade-away he gets himself off the dribble.. knows how to use his frame well.

A creative coach would use him in some small ball line ups, imo.

I don't think Lamar Stevens is good enough for us to fit lineups around him.

He has to figure out how to shoot or he's not going to make it.

I've noticed that we have pretty much taken out post-ups from our offensive sets, which is a good thing with this group. Forcing Love in the post hasn't been a good idea for a few years now and Allen currently isn't able (willing?) to get deep enough position to be effective. In the future, I'd like to see a few post-ups after a switch leading to a mismatch, but keeping it simple for now is the right call.

Yeah, I think we're better with more of a motion offense. For one thing they're having Sexton start on the opposite side of the court from the ball, then curl around a screen at the elbow and flash down the lane for a pass and layup.
