2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree. Extend him a qualifying offer and you could simply fail to match an offer you didn’t like.

Or he takes it and you want rid of him, I’m sure 10+ teams would be willing to simply absorb him for a late 2nd round pick.

What's the logic behind declining his offer, do you think? I can't seem to figure it out.

Wasn't the rumor earlier on that he was going to sign with Barcelona? That certainly could be a factor.

He’s good enough to steal mins from other bigs.

Yes, he would also lower Allen's leverage in the contract negotations, which would work for the Cavs in retaining Allen or simply make it easier in moving into a different direction.

Maybe they did him a solid, as his org likes to do stuff like that.

Hartenstein fouled once every 5 minutes 22.5 seconds. As far as I can tell, Dwight Howard is the only other player close, with one foul every 5 min 58.8 sec.

And he's a hall of famer!

I tried to warn everyone…Cavs not gonna invest long term in Hartenstein when they’re going to get Mobley #2 next year at any reasonable cost.

Unless we all have a big misunderstanding here, I don’t know.

Hartenstein originally declined his player option. Perhaps during that time, he asked to move on with Allen in the fold and Mobley drafted.

Perhaps he simply wasn’t worth the $2.2 million to our team at risk of him taking it.

Maybe we want to stay flexible below the tax because we anticipate a busy offseason whether it be the MLE or via trade.

Its anyone’s guess.

Could also be they want more of a consistent shooter behind Allen, Mobley and Nance. Hartenstein had a fun skill set but he wasn't exactly a threat from 3 point range. He could hit a three sometimes but it isn't his game. Of course finding a backup center capable of shooting threes is easier said then done.

Hartenstein was IMHO incredibly overrated on this site. He’s a backup C which isn’t worth much these days. Not surprised they let him go.

Mitch Williams is worse. But the Cavs need a guy like that anyway. They got pushed around way too much after Drummond quit on the team.

Thoughts on Otto Porter Jr.? I'd offer him a four year deal for the full MLE with a player option on the final year.

We're set @ every other position, but could use some help @ the wing since Okoro is undersized. I still view Okoro as a 3 until I see more progress offensively.

I'll be okay with this but I feel like Josh Hart the player is never as good as Josh Hart the idea when it comes to moving the needle.

I wouldn't be a fan of Josh Hart. He's billed as a good shooter but after his rookie season his 3PT% has fallen off. He shot 32% last season. He's 6-5 with a 6-9 wingspan so doesn't exactly solve the issue of needing a long SF. Maybe someone can sell me on Josh Hart. But to me Josh Hart has never lived up to the hype he had coming off his rookie season.
