2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
When does this turn from bad luck, to needing to address our trainers? I mean, I know it was a short training camp and pre-season, but I imagine other teams aren't struggling with injuries as much as the Cavs? This is crazy :chuckle:

I really think the schedule is partly to blame....

It feels like this team had had a game nearly every single day lately.

I feel like in a normal year NBA games are 2-3 days apart.

From Fedor:

Tonight marks the fifth game in last seven days. Off day tomorrow. Then practice Thursday. Game Friday night. That’s two extra days plus tonight for treatment/recovery. No desire to force it

Looks like they'll just mail this one in and have two days to try and get some guys back for Friday's pay back game against the Knicks.

Hopefully our players are back for the knicks game. Im hungry for another win.

First really bad loss. Pretty impressive. At some point it was impossible to play good defense. Huge load in the middle and hot 3pt shooters. Down 7 guys what can you do? Only starter left is a rookie is so crazy! Never saw that

We must be tanking right? Is it even possible to have this many injuries?

I think we do have injuries and we're also being extra cautious, it's a developmental year so no need to rush people back and take risks.

Can you imagine the world of shit we would be in if we have any COVID cases?

Fedor had this:

The Cavs’ greatest foe right now is attrition. They are trying to manage a difficult situation. Many are facing the same. Tuesday’s leaguewide injury report featured nearly 100 players for nine games -- a combination of injury, personal reasons (hey there, Kyrie Irving and Porter) and the COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

The Indiana Pacers were without seven guys in their matchup against the Golden State Warriors. The Philadelphia 76ers used eight players. The Miami Heat were missing nine guys.

And Bickerstaff:

Some of the injuries, like the muscle and the soft tissue, those you could see happening because of the long layoff and guys not playing as much basketball as their bodies are used to. But when you look at some of ours, with the ankles, the shoulder, the hand, these are freak basketball injuries that for some reason, just keep coming.

So on Tuesday the 18 teams with scheduled games averaged over five unavailable players per game. Crazy.

A lot of guys around the league are learning how to play new positions. Watching Cedi play point guard last night was painful. Dribbling is not his strong point but he is a good passer for a forward; 33 assists in his last six games. Now if he only could shoot. On the season he's averaging 35.4% from the field and 30.1% on 3's.

Cedi started the season making 9 of his first 17 three-point attempts. Since then he's 16-for-66 (24.2%). Last year he hit 38.3%. I think with all the injuries he's trying to pick up the scoring slack and is forcing shots. When he's on the floor with Garland, Sexton, Love, and Drummond he can just take whatever good shots come his way.
