2020-2021 Cavs Season General Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Drummond is awful and sticks out like a sore thumb on a squad with strong collective BBIQ. Give him the JR Smith treatment.

Looking at next yr's FA crop, we need to seriously consider money-hatting Jarrett Allen and force the Nets to either pay up or let him walk. John Collins is another candidate but that guy would get matched in a heartbeat. Even if it's for the Hawks to move him after.

I wouldn't waste our cap space on friggin Jarrett Allen. He hasn't improved since he came into the league and you can find athletic roll man like him late in the draft.

Now looking at his advanced stats, he does look pretty impactful. Still, I hate being heavily tied to such one dimensional players.

He's game has definitely improved (ftr, ast%, rebr, etc.) - you just don't see it because he lost his minutes last year. He's also got the tools to be a good rim protector and we would be signing him at 23 yrs old. He's far worth the gamble.

Rather him than Collins. Collins is basically what Obi Toppin could be. Good offensive player and boxscore stuffer who makes your team worse and gives it all back on D. Let Atlanta waste their capspace.

Id rather draft Evan Mobley...but thats just me.

Something I noticed about Drummond yesterday is how he needs people who can effectively feed the post. Post entry passes aren’t as easy as they sound and very few, if anyone, on our team does it well.

I saw Drummond throw up his hands in frustration when Sexton went away from him...dude is playing for his next contract, if I was him
I would rebound play Defense and stop forcing shit offensively. I don't know he might have the worst basketball IQ in the league?

The thing about Drummond is that,he can be a really good player but does too much. I don't mind the scoring, even though that gets him in trouble sometimes but he's one of the biggest players in the league but tries to be a guard that's annoying to watch.

Nance and McGee know their role but they also don't try to be something they're not. The team obviously need Drummond's defense but him trying to be a point guard hurt this team.

I actually like Drummond despite my criticisms of him but I wish he understands that this team belongs to the young guys.

I think he does have playmaking abilities. It wouldn't hurt the Cavs to see what he can do with the ball in his hands in the perimeter. Maybe Drummond knows something we don't. I cringed whenever I read Larry Nance wanted to play the SF. I didn't think he had it in him. He proved me wrong last night. Maybe Drummond can do the same.

We need to sign Drummond before someone else does imo.

Edit: Not saying Drummond or Nance can play the SF, but Nance proved he can certainly playmake from the perimeter. Drummond seems to think he can do it also. I believe him when he says he's smart & picks up on things quickly. We can't afford to lose him at all.

Collin really improved his entry passes, especially over the top.

IF I had o choose between Allen and Collins, I would go Allen too. Lol Mobley is my preference too tho

I'd rather give him a few post touches for hooks and see if he can just break through guys like he did on Zeller last night than have him handle and do those awful runners where he tries to draw fouls. Pass out to the perimeter if he gets doubled.

I rememebr when he came to the team he said, "I am very bright and pick up on things quickly" that is not the case. I am down on him going anywhere in a trade, because no way he adjusts quickly and fits in with a team. Bickerstaff is going to have to pull him a few times and put in Mcgee to alert him that he is trying to do too much at some point

What makes Drummond so frustrating is not that he is skill less or without talent.

He just stubbornly tries to be so much more than he is and more than makes sense for how basketball is played in 2020

If he just gave consistent effort on both ends and only did the 3-4 things he’s good on at offense, he could be a plus player, even dominant in some situations.

It’s honestly such a waste and so frustrating
