2020-21 Offseason Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Early rather than later.. It's just a hunch, but, if there are five other teams with quality SS's entering their final club controlled year plus two or three what I'll refer as ML quality SS's.. the GM's will develop wandering eyes (looking at other opportunities) that will creat a resistance to change or cheapness..

At the end of the day.. the Indians may keep Lindor up to the trading deadline and possibly through the end of the season instead of getting less than the value CLEFO places on Franky..

We'll see..

Keep him another year until he walks.. .. ughh this organization geez. We need some long term offensive talent. Bad. Do not let an asset like this leave.

Personally if we dont trade Lindor before the spring training start, I think he is walking as a free agent unless we are out of contention by the trade deadline. We have a good enough starting rotation to keep us in the wild card race so its going to be very hard to merit trading from a position of no depth if we are in a pennant race. In my mind, we need to either have him the whole season or trade him before spring starts. I dont want to wait and see if we trade him, which if he's a team leader, that could put a lot on his mind as well.
Wild card?.. Division Championship !..

The truth of the matter is Franky hasn't shown himself to be that world beater when it comes to clutch and late situations.. BA w/ RISP, LOB %, etc.. have all been questionable throughout Franky's career.. These kinds of statistics are always frought with minimal sample size.. but..

The truth remains.. If Franky starts spring training.. it's likely he stays to & through the trading deadline.. He'll only be moved if the Tribe falls hopelessly out of the race.. just like before with CC Sabathia and the Brewers trade... you know.. the one that resulted in Michael Brantley's first stay/visit to the North Coast...

Thoughts?

You mean Brantley’s first AND last stay in Cleveland.

I wouldn't be surpirsed of a deal has not already been agreed upon. CA doesn't do things on a whim. He's already had discussions and the scouting department has already been looking at players/prospects on teams interested in acquiring Lindor.

Indians are extremely tight lipped as well about making moves so its not until its close to finalizing that we will know about. It's hard to say when we will know anything, but if we trade him, I expect it near the winter meetings since the reps of Lindor may be involved to get an extension done as well as part of the trade.

That could be true. CA and MC don't do anything publicly and are methodical so I can see your prediction being accurate.

Who says no: Carrasco to the Angels for Brandon Marsh and Luis Rengifo?

Indians say no...

Edit: Thought about this some more.. and concluded the Indians still say no.. Now, if the Angels were to add any one of three prospects to this deal.. then the answer would most definitely change to the affirmative.. The three names:

Jordyn Adams
Joe Kochanowicz
Alexander Ramirez

Thoughts?..

Not a terrible idea Kevalier, but I think more should be returned for Carrasco. For me, it would have to be Marsh and Detmers from the Angels or I'd look elsewhere. The Angels don't have much to deal.

If you look at what the Angels would be giving up.. their best PP prospect and their best Pitching prospect.. both, pretty close to the ML's.. that might make their decision to include both in a single deal..prohibitive..

It should give them pause, just as it should give the Indians pause dealing Carrasco. We're not talking about a middling SP signed to an overly expensive contract. Quite the opposite in fact.

I would like to add that I wouldn't blame the Angels for not dealing either or both, but that's what it would take for me to let Cookie go.

It's a reasonable argument.. for most baseball trades.. enough to stop them.. Adding Cookie to ANY roster as a # 3 starter should bring drools..

We'll see...

I’m skeptical of anyone claiming knowledge of a gentleman’s agreement, which by definition is kept private.
no.

A gentlemen's agreement is simply an informal agreement that all parties expect to be maintained. Every "bet" here on RCF is nothign more than a gentlemen's agreement. I say i will donate 25 dollars if the browns win the super bowl this year. Everyone see's that I post that, and everyone expects me to maintain that. However there is nothing legally binding that forces me to donate that 25 dollars if the browns in fact win the super bowl.

So to go back to your point, the entire damn world can know about the gentlemen's agreement with Cookie, but that ultimately doesnt keep Cookie from demanding a trade or the indians trading Cookie. However just like everyone on this board would be upset with me if i didnt actually follow through with my 25 dollar donation, the Indians/players would be upset if the other party violated the agreement.
