People would have bitched if we traded him a year earlier. Not if Clase ends up being a high-leverage back-end bullpen arm (possibly closer) for the next 7 years.

not me - f.o. blew itPeople would have bitched if we traded him a year earlier.
what we know so far is that he breaks down and he cheatsNot if Clase ends up being a high-leverage back-end bullpen arm (possibly closer) for the next 7 years.
Bitched, a little bit more than that - you are talking a riot.People would have bitched if we traded him a year earlier.
I agree that the return for Kluber would have been much higher in the 2018-19 off-season, however, we won't fully know the return for Kluber until we see Clase pitch and whether Deshields sticks and plays better in 2021.
As for who's getting traded, I remain of the view that Lindor = 100%, Carrasco = 25%, and Ramirez = 0%.
I enjoyed some of your posts but this one is insane. The only thing I hope sticks is DeShield' ass to the seat of the bus headed out of town. If you're relying on him then you've already cancelled the season. He's a bench player at best.
They should have traded Kluber the year before. I pined for it and took a lot of shit. I'm no fortune teller by any means, but I had and still have confidence in the Indians ability to recognize and develop pitching talent. Add the idea of a talented, near ready SP prospect being added to the package for him and viola! You've received a better return and restocked.
Trust me when I say that there is a much greater chance than 0% that Ramirez is traded. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Ramirez is dealt and Carrasco is kept. I'm not saying that is going to happen, just that it wouldn't surprise me.
How so good sir?I enjoyed some of your posts but this one is insane.
not trading Jose Ramirez will leave him with two years of service time under club control. We're being told that Lindor should have been traded last off season when he had two years of club control remaining.. so it will be the same path..How so good sir?

More on Mets off-season plans.
“We expect to be somewhat active in the free agent market as opposed to the trade market. We don’t want to give up our young guys,” Alderson said, noting that the Mets plan to “recommit to our farm system and try to stay away from…our really prospects in significant trades.”

Here's a biiiig difference between Ramirez nearing free agency and Lindor - when both were offered extensions after the 2016 run, Jose signed and Lindor didn't. You may be able to work something out with Jose like they did Carrasco. Lindor has been looking forward to free agency for years.
Two very different men.
Absolutely! If they idea is to keep Ramirez and extend him again then I can get on board with that idea too. What I don't want to see in the current state of this organization is him being dealt at a later date when his value is lessened.
If they think they need to rebuild then rebuild ffs. If they think they can retool then I support that effort as well. I want them to commit fully to whatever they decide and they may not be able to do that until they know what the return is from the Lindor and possibly the Carrasco trade(s).
