Let's see here.

Not one Astro player got a suspension for cheating.

Joe Kelly was not ejected from the game.

Kelly got an 8 game suspension in a 60 game season.

That equals a 22 game suspension in a 162 game season.

MLB, WTF?

not only were they not suspended, the players suffered 0 penalty for 3 years of cheating, plus stealing a world series.

My hope is all teams start to treat the astros like this and make it very clear to MLB, that the astros deserve to be punished.

That WS should have been stripped from them. I don't think it should have been given to any other team, but it should have been stripped from the the Astros. The record books should not show the Astros won that WS.

I hear you, and I am upset with the situation, but I just cannot endorse throwing at guys -- simply too dangerous/risky.

I agree with this, but that suspension is just way out of line. He was not even thrown out of the game.

I agree in principle as to the length, but my sympathy only goes so far, as this clown was not even on the Dodger team that lost -- no, he was on another cheating team.
As to not being thrown out of the game, that was an umpire error...should not really affect the situation as we can look at it now. This behavior should not be acceptable.

"until further notice" -- Not the best news

additional news of hte day it turns out the commissioner of baseball can now suspend players for stealing signs.

the barn door was left open, the horse left, caused mass havoc with the locals, was eventually eaten by a bear, and everyone forgot about the episode.

But at least MLB remembered the door 20 years later

You don't throw at guys heads - PERIOD.

Now maybe the breaking ball Kelly threw that Corea had to duck to get out of the way of slipped, but it looked kind of suspicious that is for sure.

Loses the benefit of the doubt with me simply because this came after the pitch to Bregman.

Didn't want to prejudice it - but you and are on the same page on that one.

Because I think he wanted to hit Bregman and missed. Most MLB pitchers don't lose FB's that way. And when you throw at a guy and miss .... your mindset is PISSED OFF, and that isn't going to lead to pretty at bats after that.

Kelly couldn't locate his fastball that entire inning.

I think there's a legit chance he threw the breaking ball at Correa because he felt he could actually hit him with it.

I also think an 8 game suspension is excessive, but it's clear the commish wants to shut down any anti-Astro retaliation right now. Can't blame him, but as a peasant watching the gladiators, I want my entertainment. I hope teams start banging a garbage can lid every time there's a strike against an Astro. Swing and miss? BANG! An ump calls a questionable strike that you think is off the plate? BANG!

Brewers-Cardinals Game Postponed After Positive Covid-19 Tests

By Steve Adams | July 31, 2020 at 8:48am CDT

Tonight’s game between the Brewers and Cardinals will be postponed due to positive Covid-19 tests within the Cardinals organization, MLB Network’s Jon Heyman (Twitter links). Joel Sherman of the New York Post adds that the Cardinals are isolating at their hotel and have not been to Miller Park.
It’s a discouraging development for the league, which had previously emphasized that the current outbreak within the sport was contained within the Marlins organization. Neither the Brewers nor the Cardinals have played (or will play) the Marlins in 2020 under the realigned schedule.

Additional information on the cancellation:

The number of positive tests will be telling, but it’s easy to imagine widespread implications from the Cardinals’ positive tests. The Brewers will obviously be directly impacted, but they’re unlikely to be alone. The Cardinals just traveled to Milwaukee from Minneapolis, for instance, after completing a two-game set with the Twins. Minnesota hosted the Indians last night, meaning the Cleveland players and staff were in the same visitors clubhouse that had just hosted the Cardinals. Both the Twins and Indians, then, could feel the impact of the Cardinals’ tests even if none of the players on either roster have tested positive yet. The Pirates, whom the Cardinals played in their first series of the season, are also likely on alert after today’s news. The Cards had been scheduled to take on the Tigers next week, but as we saw with the Marlins, Phillies and their upcoming opponents, that now could be subject to change, too.
